Header Editor FAILURE
The new header editor is horrendous. I used to be able to use oversized images and center them within the visible area so that just the portion of the image I wanted to show would be visible. Now, everything has to be the exact size, I can't move the image around to get just what I want to show. I can't even do a basic header that has a background color or color gradiant with text on it. It now HAS to be an image, and it HAS to be an exact size. Anybody know what that size is?? That would certainly be helpful!
I want something that works, I DO NOT want to have to learn to use things like PhotoShop just to be able to put an image in my header. As of right now, not realizing this, I've replaced my current header image with something that doesn't fit correctly and looks like garbage. I'm going to end up removing the headers completely. I don't have the knowledge of how to do photo editing, so now I have to figure out how to make my pages look good with no headers at all.
How do you resize an image to get it to fit within the area that the header uses, and just what size is that anyway? Beats me, the header editor doesn't even have this BASIC feature. I use the editor here because I'm not a professional website designer, but now, with this rediculous new editor, I have to be... Bring back the old one or give those of us that still have the ability to use FLASH a choice in which to use. The new editor is a MAJOR failure, and should NOT be a forced, permanent, replacment until it at least has the basic features of its predecessor.

Sorry to hear that, @AbundantLife. We're gathering feedback like yours and sharing that with our engineers so they can take that into consideration for any updates to it.
The reason we updated the image editor is because the previous version was flash-based. Most modern browsers are no longer supporting flash by default, and it would have created extra steps people would have needed to enable just to edit images.

I just submitted a question about this very topic. I concur with AbumdantLife that the new editor is cumbersome, not intuitive and does not allow for the ease of positioning images within the header like the old editor. I get the issue with teh flash-based system, but how about just fixing that issue and not rearranging the editor.
I will also vote FAIL on the new header editor. Major FAIL.

I agree that the new editor is FAIL. My most recent page is garbage instead of matching the rest of the site--and I'm not skilled with photoshop, either. Please return it to normal.

I agree with the author of this topic.
New editor is awful.
1. No possibility to move (center) oversized picture.
2. Each time when I want to save slideshow in header, I have confirm if it shoulb be for only one sub-page or each on my website.
3. I guess I asked for this more than 2 years ago - when we add new pictures to the slideshow, please give us a chance to choose if the newest file will show up on beginning or at the end of slideshow. So far it appears at the end only and in new editor it takes even more time to move this photo to the beginning because editor loses focus on the picture and moves scroll bar to the beginning of slideshow. After that I need to scroll slideshow in search of the picture I want to move to other place.
Besides, why don't you let us test something before you add a function to all users?
There should be some beta program so each of us can first try it and give feedback when we have a time and first of all when we want it. You should build some testers team first.
So far, you push us to test all of us it without our permission.
Please, make our life easier, not more difficult cause it is the whole idea of such a web builders, right?
Have a happy new year!

I agree with everything here ... My banners for our site rely on being able to adjust an image to fit the banner at the top .. that is no longer possible .. and the option to reduce the size of the image does not work. If this is your only option than we may have to look for another website creator and abandon Weebly.

I totally agree with the critics. The new editor is horrible. Why has it changed? It has now become much more difficult. I hope it can be reversed.
I'm shocked. My confidence in Weebly has been shaken. I just made a beautiful new website and now things just change. Is this normal for Weebly? I hope I will not regret my choice. Please reverse!

Please bring back the old header editor. The new one is just awful. I am just going to have to delete a short header on one page, because I can't stand this new one. There are few fonts available, I can't upload my own pictures and it's just overall very frustrating and cumbersome to use.

So if I would like a logo and a title - like one of my other sites >>>http://sb2017auctions.weebly.com/
how do I do that now in your new editor?
When I load a logo, when I try to add text the box is too tiny. I cannot see how to drag it out to make it bigger, or how to put it to the side of the logo?
This has been days like this now.
You need to help us, we are paying for this.
Please.

Thank you AbundantLife for explaining the total FAILURE of the Header Editor. I wrote about my problem with it on Dec. 20th under the subject: "Many Headers have reverted to default!"
I never received a satisfactory reply to what was going on at Weebly... maybe the posts and kudos you have gotten will make an impact... and make our life easier by bringing back the previous editor. However, I am not waiting.
What I did... changed the Headers to "No Header" - then with the Build option, inserted a Title and Image. I was then able to expand or shrink the inserted Image; however, I could not crop it or move it around to highlight a certain portion of it. It is not as good as what I had created before but was less stressful than trying to figure out this new version!!
I also vote FAIL...

I communicated my complaints about the new editor to the support. There will be no way back to the old editor and the functions that I am missing now.
Because there will be no solution the topic was marked as "solved".
Just face the fact that you are not in control of your website ...

Well, that's certainly disappointing. You would think that if enough people complained, Weebly would respond and fix things. I was looking at Wix today; I might switch over if it allows me to do what I want to.
I guess the real disappointment I have in all this is that Weebly did it without telling anyone; I had a great header tool, and then I suddenly didn't. Testing things and a warning to users would have been nice...

Hey guys - our engineering team is looking into a few different concerns regarding the new image editor (both in general like image quality, and in specific when it comes to editing header images). I don't have any kind of ETA, unfortunately, but I thought it important to let you know that we're listening to your feedback. Sorry for the trouble, and thank you for your patience!

The new header editor is useless..i'm so dissapointed they take away the old version. I prefer the old version which we can adjust the image and more choice of Fonts we can select to match our header. The new header editor only have 4 ugly font to select, can't change the color or pattern and can't even move the font to the desire area i want, it only stay in the middle image. Since everyone are not happy with the new header editor, so please remove it and put back the old version as everyone wanted.

Because of these issues I tried out the "new" theme "Cento". To make it clear to all readers what we are talking about:
Weebly has now 2 types of header editors:
1) "Older" themes were changed to the common image editor offering just 4 font types.
2) "Newer" themes like "Cento" offer a header editor that is based upon something that looks like the background image editor of my theme. It offers all font types but does not allow to put your text wherever you want (just up, down, center). It also allows to upload small images as an additional layer but the placement is very limited.
I have got one of the "older" themes (chose this 2014) and I am missing the font types I have used for my site layout. Also the output of the editor (I think it has something to do with the compression) lets a white bar appear at the right side of my header image. The header image is inserted via "url" and the settings of the theme are correct. But the image falls too small since the new editor is installed. With every "save" (editing) the image gets some pixels smaller again. You will just recognize this bug if your theme needs the image to fit exactly. If you have e.g. a white background you maybe wont realize it.
