Grey filter in my header pictures

Hi everybody.

I'm using Weebly since a few days and I have a problem that I can't solve with my header.

When I'm on my website (on computer), there is like a grey filter on all my headers. For instance, when I have a picture with a white background, it automatically turns into grey background.

I tried to modify this in my settings, but everything in on 0% (no filter, no shadings, etc.) so I really don't understand how to do it.

Can anyone help me please ?

Thank you

It sounds like the theme you're using is designed to add that overlay to the header image, . There were a few posts here with solutions that you might want to check out:

Another option is to just switch to a different theme.

Hi Adam,

Thank you for your answer.

Sadly, the other topic didn't fit with my own theme, so the answer didn't work.

Finally, I just modified my CSS/HTML code to remove the grey filter and it works perfectly.

Bye

If your theme has a switch to use a header color, a positive value will place a "filter" of that color over your image. I had this experience myself. I believe it was in the Weebly theme under Theme > Theme Options.

This seems to be an ongoing issue (with a variety of themes I assume). I have tried all of the solutions I can find here, and have been troubleshooting on my own, but I CAN'T seem to get the grey filter off my main image. Can anyone tell me what I am missing? Thanks so much!

Sometimes the option to remove the overlay is under Theme>Theme Options, but not every theme allows the option. I think you would need to edit the html/css for the particular theme you are using, and I'm pretty sure it is the only theme that has the vertical split between the header and the body of the site. Weebly employees are not able to assist with custom code, but I know there's a handful of users on here that will sometimes assist.

@BJ ?

Thanks for your reply!  I don't have that option in my theme, but I have been trying to edit the css, and I have looked through all of the suggestions I can find on the forum here and well and just searching the internet for answers.  I am stumped.

Any suggestions would be welcome!  Thanks so much for your time!

@PaulMathews also might have some ideas if the CSS solutions you've seen from other posts didn't work for your site, @sagespotting.

So, no need to change your template just yet. Editing the code is fairly easy if you know where to look. It just depends on which template you are using.

I am using a template that does not let me check a box to get rid of the overlay. But check here first, it makes it an easy fix. (Theme -> Theme Options -> Overlay)

For my specific theme, I found the overlay causing my headers to darken, under the "Universal banner", and if you scroll down some you will find .bgcolor and background: fade (80%) etc. Change the 80% to 0% and your "dark overlay" is now transparent. (Theme - > Edit HTML / CSS -> "Universal")

Easy fix, hope that helps.

Thank you so much for the solution!!  I had a BLUE filter and your steps in the Weebly theme options worked great to remove it.  I was going nuts trying to figure out why my images were transparent and BLUE.  thank you!

Had the same issue and figure it out.  Just remove header.  Then add your image.
