Embed Animated Gif assistance

Hello, I am a novice at this and would love some assistance if possible.

I would like to embed animated gifs I am making in Canva onto my site, and I just can't seem to get the coding right.  I would like the option of embeding the Gif as a standalone and also as a banner / header / background.

I read somewhere about uploading the gif file into the HTML code of the theme I am using, and I have tried this, but the code that has been suggested isn't really working.

I am also having issues with the Gif repeating even after i've turned looping off.

Can anybody assist me please with the correct code, where I should host my Gifs and also how I can prevent the Gif from looping?

Thank you!

To embed an animated gif simply use the regular image element and then upload the gif as you would a jpeg.   NO coding necessary...

Thank you!  Had no idea it was that simple.

Any idea how much a gif weighs down load time?

Ie. am I better off using HTML5?

Hi @AnnDora Can you clarify what you mean by this? What page are you trying to post to and can you upload the gif here? Thanks!
