Deleting multiple files.

Twice a month I upload a newsletter (pdf file) linked to a button labelled [Get current news]. I now understand that to delete the pdf, I need to delete the button that "created" it.

However, I have been unlinking the previous file and adding the new one to what is essentially the same page element. Next fortnight, I can change my workflow to (1) Delete old button (2) create new button 93) Link new file. But that leaves me with 30 or more old files cluttering the site. The only time I can see a part of the list of the up-loaded files is when I carry out a Link File operation. Naturally, my naming of files has been haphazard, so it is not easy to provide a list of the file names for someone else to delete.

Any suggestions on how to clean up?

Any suggestions

Hi @fortiter Have you tried sending a site archive to yourself? I know that uploaded images are in the file and I'm sure uploaded files would be available as well. You can send a site archive from the Settings tab in the editor.

Thanks for posting, @fortiter. If you provide that list to our support team they can remove the files for you. You can contact them via our support site by email or live chat.

Thanks Adam for the prompt response. I am aware that Support can handle the deletion task when I supply a list of the relevant files. I presume that you are unable to permit users to delete their own files without exposing everyone else's uploads.

So let me restate the question. How can I see a full list of uploaded files on my site so that I can determine which ones should be deleted and then create a list to forward to Support?

In the absence of even a rudimentary File Manager (was it really 2016 that this was first raised) I can see no practicable way to generate the list that would allow someone else to "manage" (in case, delete)  the files on my site.

Fortiter question is NOT answered. WHERE CAN ONE GO TO SEE A LIST OF THESE LINKED FILES? I can see about five at a time if I use a test page to link a file. How many files are out there? I am a new editor to this site and have no idea what the previous admin has linked out there. I do know that we update files on a regular basis, so the old files ae still there. . . for years and years.

We don't really provide a way to view a succinct list of all the files from within your account or dashboard. You could export an archive of your site with the option on the Settings tab, though, since that will include all of the files you've uploaded.
