Changes don't save and can't add links

Hi,

Since starting weebly my site changes sometimes don't save so I have to re-write everything over and over again. It is really starting to get om my nerves now. Also, when I want to add a link, the dialog box pops up and immediately goes away again. I also cannot change old links anymore. I really wanted to finish my site this summer, but I don't see how I can do that now..

Help would be useful.

There might be some slight differences with the version of Chrome on your Chromebook which could be causing that. Since it isn't possible to install or use a different browser on a Chromebook, do you have access to a different computer that you can try?

I'm having the same problem with edited text not "sticking".  It worked fine for about an hour, then suddenly quit.  I'm pretty sure with this many issues from several people with several browsers, the problem is with Weebly, and not with every browser out there.

We just can't really troubleshoot if we can't recreate it and don't have that info, fraidycat.

Again, the important questions:

  • What browser are you editing on? (Firefox, Safari, Chrome, etc.) What other browsers have you tried to edit on since?
  • What internet connection are you on? (Home, work, university, etc.) Are there any firewalls or antivirus programs there, and have you attempted your edits after disabling them?
  • What devices are you accessing the editor with? (Desktop, laptop, mobile app, etc.) Have you tried any other device and do you see the same behavior?

I have tried all of those browsers.  I have tried multiple computers.  Logged out.  Logged in.  Firewalls.  No firewalls.

I'm having the same issue.

  • I've changed browsers (Safari to Chrome)
  • Using iMac OX Sierra (10.12.2)
  • cannot remove or change links in text; i keep selecting 'remove' for link or 'change' and 'unlink' if i do a combination of these things about a dozen times it will then hold, but then when i 'publish' the changes will not save. link still active.
  • text edit is totally gone (B I U link etc)
  • changes will not save even while i'm editing text in the page. It will hold for about 30 seconds then reverts.

any other ideas?

Hey there! We recently encountered a brief issue regarding domains that may have caused what you're seeing there. Are you able to edit normally now?

I am having the same issue.  I have emailed twice and am getting very slow responses.  This is frustrating and affecting my store front.  I am trying to add a text option, my Twitter link, and simply change some words from lower-case to upper-case.  These changes won't save.  This is day 2 now.  Will Weebly let us know what needs to be done on our end or their end to fix this?

Hello Wotu! Sorry for the trouble, have you been able to try a different network at all?

Hey Weebly,

I have the same problem (used safari) - I have been working all night writing text and making changes to existing text and none of it saved. What a waste of work and time!

And when there is no warning when exiting a page that it has not saved, it is impossible to know if you have secured the work. I see many people having this problem, why is still not fixed?

Sorry to hear that, @Maiken. After you updated the text in your text element, did you immediately exit the editor or did you click on something else in the editor before exiting?

I'm having a related problem:
Store -> Tracking -> Google Analytics Tracking ID
When I enter the tracking code and hit save, nothing happens. The little loading circle just keeps spinning forever instead of saving. Can't even hit cancel.

If I refresh, it hasn't saved.

Tried:
two different networks (office and mobile hotspot)
three different browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Opera)
two different login accounts (mine and the client's)

copying and pasting; then typing it manually

saving other changes to the site - these work fine

Spent half an hour on it Smiley Sad

Can you enter it, let it sit for a minute, then exit and re-open? I tested on a site of my own, and it seemed to hang like that for me, but when I closed and re-opened I saw that it had saved.

Worked. Thanks.

IMPORTANT: Close the Store within the Weebly interface, rather than closing / refreshing the browser.

I had tried refreshing the page, and that didn't work. If you click "Close" within the store interface itself, that seems to work.

Thanks Smiley Happy

Still a bug that needs fixing, but this will at least help other people for the time being.

I am also having the same problem. Here's how it goes (tonight, anyway): I make changes on this one page in particular (I haven't tried editing other pages yet), click "Publish" and then check the website in a separate window. The changes do not appear, whether I refresh the page or open a new window.

After reading the various forums, it is clear that this is a Weebly issue, not a browser issue. It seems like this problem started within the last several months, but has not been fully addressed yet.

Any updates to this situation I should know about? I suppose I could delete the page and start over again, but the whole system seems unstable, and I am worried this could happen again on another page.

Thanks.

Hello BubbainTX!

You may want to retry the edits in question. We encountered some momentary issues last night that should be cleared up now.

I am experiencing some of your problems. When I try to turn already existing text into a link, it just adds the URL in front of the text.

This is after selecting the text you want to make into a link, @WolfiePotato? It looks like your version of Safari is a little old now; you might want to try updating it to the newest version (this might mean upgrading your Operating System since you're a couple OSes behind).
