CSV file - importing products not working

Anybody else experiencing issues with loading new items using a CSV file?

I am using the same form and type of info I have been for aaaages but since yesterday it just isn't working.

It gets completely stuck on the importing bit

I have to re-load and then usually only one has been loaded and only half....it is a real pain!

I can manually add them but with 10+ new items coming in every day that is REALLY not working...

anybody any ideas?

I'm having an issue with importing 20 items using a Excel csv file.  It looks like its importing but there's nothing happening, just:

Your products are being imported...

And the green bar doesn't move. Help! Thanks!!

Hello diana! Sorry for the trouble. Are you able to contact our support team directly? They should be able to go over the file for you and ensure everything is in order.

Help! I'm also not able to import products onto the website.  Same issue as everyone else.  I've tried everything.  Exporting products, then editing the new products into that file.  I have a very large number of products to add.  I tried to add as little as three products....with success!!!! Then try again with no luck!  I've wasted three days already and am very frustrated.  I need this to get resolved asap.  I called support last night and received no help.

Hi, did you ever get an answer about how to solve this error with the import of members?

I am having the same regular trouble and it is so frustrating!

Any help appreciated.

What error or errors are you seeing when you and import members, @jancarey?

Hi Adam

The same issue as those above.

When I go to import members, only a few import and then nothing... no error message...just nothing.

So I start again - log out, log in... no difference, it wont import at all...

I am resolved to manually entering the members one by one - and with a list of over a hundred people somestimes this is very frustrating and obviously time wasting. How did others resolve their issues before in this forum feed?

My import is hung and will not allow any further activity re: import.

I exported the sample file from Weebly and manually loaded data into the correct locations in an Open Office Calc spreadsheet, a known good CSV file generator. A clean file was "imported" with no complaints from the pre-check, but the import appears to be still running without doing anything. No error messages until I try to import again and it says the previous is still running.  It's been several hours now...should be done. Only 86 items.

Sorry to hear that, Dan. Hmm... Try this first:

1. Import your CSV into Google Sheets

2. Download that newly made sheet as a CSV

3. Try importing that into your Store

It's not that I think Open Office is making a bad CSV so much as there can sometimes be slight differences in the formatting. I've used CSV exports from Google Sheets in the past without trouble, so this seems a like an easy first step to rule out anything like that.

Thank you, Adam.  Overnight, for reasons unknown to me, the hung import process that I could do nothing about was aborted. That errant process was my problem and when it cleared, the next import effort was successful without using Google sheets.

Until it happens again, problem went away, not necessarily solved.  Smiley Happy

I checked with our engineers and it looks like the made a change on our end to resolve an issue with CSV importing, so it wasn't anything you were doing. Smiley Happy I'm glad it worked for you!

FYI this worked for me. Was editing the CSV in 2017 Excel for Mac and the fields were just all blank when I tried importing. Copied/Pasted into a Google Drive Spreadsheet, exported THAT as a CSV, and it worked! Extra step sucks, but glad to have a solution...

I am having this same problem today. Tried several times to import csv file and the green status bar comes up as if it's importing but nothing happens. I have imported this file generated by the same program in previous weeks with no problems.

Hi @GarethQ Can you update your previous ticket to support with the csv file you are trying to upload? If you give permission in writing the agent can test uploading the file for you.

I am also having an issue with importing a csv file. I exported it from weebly, updated a few items in ms excell and want to import the updated csv. I click on the import products button and the import instructions window pops up, I select import csv, go to select csv file, click, choose the file from my directory and select open, and then nothing happens. I thought it may just be slow so I waited an hour, still nothing, I have tried this now a dozen time or so with the same results.

Thanks.

That's frustrating. Smiley Sad I see you have a recent ticket to support. Can you upload the csv file to the ticket and let us know so we can test it out?

Why don't you have a layout example/tutorial? All I get is this, which means NOTHING, my tables are listed

"We could not process your CSV

All rows must have a name or product ID provided"

The best way to get an example is to add a product to your store from the Store tab, then export your products to a CSV. This will give you the current, correct format that you can use. I would then take that CSV into something like Google Sheets so you can more easily work with it and export it back to a CSV for importing.

Same thing is happening to me. I exported a file from another weebly site I have and trying to import it to bigdog-boutique.com it shows the progress bar like 1/4 of inch and stayed like that for hours and hasn't moved passed that it. The cvs file has 374 items.

Please help

Thank you
