Adding a local city tax on alcohol

I have been able to figure out how to add the extra city tax we apply to alcohol sales. I have added the tax, checked the items that needs this applied and attached to the alcohol portion of the online store. But when you go to the check out screen it list the state tax along with the city alcohol tax and applies both taxes to the bill at checkout which means the food portion of the bill is also getting the city alcohol tax applied to it which it shouldn't happen.  Anyone have a answer?

I'm not sure there's a way to add that tax rate only to specific items, @countryboyjason. If you have the tax option enabled for an item, then any taxes set up for the region will be used for the item - it's all or nothing. You could probably roll the alcohol tax into the price of the item, although that might make your reporting a little more complicated since it won't show it separately.

@Adam  Can you please do what you can to get this type of problem on the road to being solved? I really do mean that respectfully,   It's just that it's extremely common for different types of stuff to have different tax rates and I've just spent hours reading all kinds of posts all over your site requesting help with this, but it never even gets to the "Please tell us more" stage. It doesn't get enough votes becasue nobody notices they're on a voting page, or it gets asked different ways in different areas of Community and each thread is short, but there are dozens of threads. Can you please help this very common issue get out of the cracks it keeps falling though and onto some coder's desk? It's a big deal for sellers, but probably not a difficult thing to fix, according to the code monkey I live with
