No H1 Tags in Weebly
I am really frustrated with Weebly. I'm not a HTML coder, and that is why I chose a drag and drop platform. I figured that this IS a platform which is put togther so "non-techies" can start a site for their business and have it searched/run properly.
I've been having problems with my sight being found for a long time, and now just found that Weebly does NOT have H1 Tags in their platform; only H2. WHAT!!! Everything I've been reading about SEO states "the most important thing is to have a relevant H1 Tag on every page, and to have relevent page copy (I'm simplifying).
So, I found that Weebly offers an H1 App and I take the time to install that. I added an H1 to each of my pages, even though that's frustrating because the app does not allow a choice of fonts, and every aspect has to be modified. So, now I have H1 tags but they DON'T match my template style fonts! WHAT!?!?
Now I talk with Weebly (after 40 minutes in the que) and they say the app is a 3rd Party and I have to email the developer. WHAT?!?! Further, Weebly has no plans to add an H1 to the platform, and I can't modify an H2 to an H1 because that has to be done "in the Template"!!!!
No where on their platform or in their SEO documents have I found that they disclose this.... It may be time to look at a different platform.

Ahh - you have a site built with the newer website editor, which doesn't currently support adding apps from the App Center.

Hi @Marjo - I've been trying to use your solution/code, but it doesn't work for me. Would somebody be able to tell me the correct code how I can adjust ALL H1 headings (with the app mentioned in this thread) to the same color, font and weight, etc. as all our other headings on the page)?
Thanks very much!

There is also a weebly app now. I started using that, but cannot tell whether it really works for SEO.

I'm using the other app mentioned for now. Haven't found any other apps by Weebly.
Would you still be able to tell me where to insert the correct code to adjust the font color, weight, type etc? @Marjo
Would be much appreciated (I also emailed the app customer team, but haven't heard anything yet...).
Thanks so much!

H1 tags are important. Saying that it is becoming less important shouldn't stop us from having good practice.
Firstly, on code perspective, tags hold semantic meaning. For example, <title> tag should literally mean title. <p> means paragraph, <h1> means the first most important heading. <h2> means the second most important heading, <b> means bold.
In terms of content, Google Spiders will obviously crawl the entire page content. BUT what provides emphasis/ importance on certain parts of those content are defined by the tags with semantics.
Tags also play a role for the vision-challenged people to understand which part of the articles are emphasized as the computer read out the content to them.
That's why good tags, good semantics should be practised.
Even our newspaper articles have proper structure. The same goes with books.
If you want to bring in the argument of having CSS as a quick fix on sizes, CSS only plays an aesthetic role but the structure and the meaning are defined via HTML.
The only thing I would say is FIX IT.

Wish I knew how trash Weebly was before I made a site on it (made for my mother so she can manage eventually, thats why I chose weebly instead of custom code). Choosing an online store template, you cant add a blog to it! Like what the F? Cant assign a form fill an automated email, cant make unique one off items, no SEO capabilities. The "SEO" section invonvese a meta-description (Which isnt even valuable for SEO!!), yet you cant control <h1> or <h2>. Weebly seems to be for people who are bored and want to make a website, if you actually want to be a legitamite site you cant do it with Weebly.

Hi there. We do not have internal blog tools at the moment, but we do have an option to display an external blog using an RSS feed. There's also an embed section that will allow you to add an external contact form if the one we offer won't work for you. Can you please clarify what you mean by unique, one-off items? Thanks!

I have been with weebly for a very long time and have a substantial following with my site. I have had the same quantity of visitors for about 4 years and no matter what I do I can't break out of this rut. after seeing this post and these comments it would seem weebly are on the highway to a hiding.
In order to elevate my website from semi-professional to professional do I need to move away from weebly? I don't like 3rd party apps and am reluctant to use them.
