Google Search Console says sitemap cannot be read

Hello Weebly community - I have tried a few different things, but for some reason Google Search Console cannot read my sitemap, and it is impacting our SEO rankings.

I have read a few other articles and in at least one it looks like Weebly was able to change a setting to allow Google Search Console to read the Sitemap.

Our website is: https://www.snakeout.biz

The URL for the sitemap (as entered into search console) is: https://www.snakeout.biz/sitemap.xml

Hi @dhaskins83 , your sitemap looks correct.

This could be related to a known bug in GSC that displays the error you're seeing with sitemaps that are actually 'pending'. 

Check if Google Bot can access your sitemap within GSC using the "Inspect any URL" box on top of the page. You'll get an error but just go ahead and click on "Test Live URL" to get a live version of the file.

On the results you should check for this line: Page fetch : Successful. If you get a successful result, then it's most likely just that your sitemap is  Pending, which means you just need to wait.
