entering an html table

The prompt "Click to set custom HTML" can be seen above the table I coded in HTML. How do I eliminate it?

It disappears in the editor preview, but reappears on the web version.

Hi @whitemonkey ,

Well it did the trick.

I realise that I could have captured the screenshot without moving the cursor by using hot key control.

So an empty code embed segment will reveal itself on the final page with the instruction message.

So why is it not visible in the previewer?

All good fun,

@Rob_Williams

o Weebly

The "Click to set custom HTML" instruction does not appear on the Weebly editor previewer after entering my html code, but it does reappear on the final, active web site page. See just above "January".

I have tried clicking on the instruction text and deleting, to no effect.
I just cut and pasted the html table from our previous GoDaddy site.
An empty embedded code segment, with no html code, will result in the message appearing on the active web page.

When scanning through Google, someone suggested using a "splash header", but it its not clear how to do that.
Thanks for responding to my appeal so quickly!

@Rob_Williams

I see what u mean

I used embeded code quite a bit    and ur example occured for me too

BUT  only when i added my code AFTER "click to add custom html"..  ie   i hadnt deleted those words

Can u screen shot the code u added?

I dunno if it helps   but there r some  TABLE apps available on weebly:

https://www.weebly.com/uk/app-center/search/Table

instead of using coding to make the table.   Coding slows page loading speed.

Hi WhiteMonkey,

I have tried clicking on the offending message in the embedding box before entering my html, but it stays there requiring me to explicitly delete it before switching to the preview stage by clicking out. I have tried using an on-line example of html, and then no html code at all. In all cases the message appears on my website. I have moved the position of the message by dragging the embedding box around, but not removing it.

I work on Firefox/Ubuntu and found it impossible to provide a screen shot 'cos the Weebly embedded display switches to preview mode when you click outside its area, so you only see the rendered text and not the underlying html code.

Here is the start and end parts of my html code, nothing spectacular!

Thanks again.

Rob

Bingo @whitemonkey! There's a hidden embed element under the custom table. Smiley Happy

@Rob_Williams All you need to do is delete the extra element and publish. If you hover just under Xmas Meal you will see it. Smiley Happy

Hi @whitemonkey & @Bernadette,

That certainly did it.

Many thanks, and greatly impressed by the level of support and concern demonstrated for one of your users.

So you can only use a single embedded html segment per page?

Best wishes

@Rob_Williams  and @Bernadette        i cant see anything.... as i am just a weebly fan... not admin.......  i built my old blog, with 300 pages built with embeded code......every paragraph with a separate element..   so i know the syptoms associated with embeded code elements....   thats why i needed a screen shot of ur editor page so i could see any EMPTY elements as i suspected.

move the mouse around and see if u can see any EXTRA  elements, like spacers and the like..
