How to fix: It appears that your domain is not properly setup to display your website.

I have a custom domain that is free ... grandfathered before weebly started charging for it.

Last year I did not get the SSL enable button yet, so I changed my DNS to cloudflare so that I can have https but forgot to enabled it.

Last night I saw weebly has the SSL enable button for me now and I clicked it. It gave me error message that I need to get rid of AAAA record in DNS. That's when I realize I have cloudflare already, and so I enabled https from there instead.

All the changes I made to the website are saved and published. But after I click published, instead of just showing my custom domain name, I also get the following message:

It appears that your domain is not properly setup to display your website. Please follow the domain setup instructions, or if you already have, allow up to 48 hours for the DNS changes to propagate.

Your old subdomain bluemarbleacademy.weebly.com now forwards to your new domain name.

If I click the domain setup instruction, it takes me to the window to get a new domain and sign up for a paid plan. I don't need that. If I click on my custom domain name, it opens my website and everything works fine. I get the 404 page not found error if I type in bluemarbleacademy.weebly.com but that doesn't matter to me. So at this point it is a minor annoyance but it would be nice if I can get it resolved.

Since you are using Cloudflare your domain isn't pointed to us the editor expects, and it will show that message. As long as your domain is loading your site for you then you can ignore that message.

Hiya.

Im having a similar problem, but I have purchased my domain with weebly and am now unable to correctly publish my website where it is saying my domain is not properly set up to display my website. I am currently having trouble following any of the steps provided (DNS, html, connect or transfer, etc.) in order to publish my website.

If i could please have some advice and assistance that would be amazing,

Thank you!

Thanks for posting, @AngeliqueVMD28. I see that you upgraded your site to a paid upgrade, but didn't actually register or purchase a domain name. You'll need to go to the Domains tab and click on "Register" to purchase and register the custom domain for your site. The paid upgrade you bought is needed so you can use a custom domain as the address of the site, though it's a separate service from the custom domain itself.

Hi!

I've continued to follow the information you have given me, where I dont have an Identification Number and I guess I use a selected organisation name for my website although it is not a business?

What kind of domain are you registering (.com.au, .com.uk, etc)? I'm assuming if you have a field like that to fill out that it's not a .com, .net, or .org domain name.

Hi @AngelWoody88 Your domain name is loading for me, although it does look like you need to enable the SSL. Can you please do this from the Settings tab in the editor? You may see a prompt to update the IP address with your domain manager.

Hi, I got the same problem!

I purchased a new domain for one year yesterday, www.blessededucation.org.

But every time I try to publish my website, I always obtain the error message as below:

"It appears that your domain is not properly set up to display your website. Please follow the domain setup instructions, or if you already have, allow up to 48 hours for the DNS changes to propagate."

Could you please help to fix it? Thanks!

I am having the same problem! I paid for a new domain name through Weebly and $72 was charged to my card. But 8 days later I still cannot publish my site due to this same issue.

I have emailed customer service twice but have not gotten a response.

I need to get my site published ASAP. Can someone help? Thank you!

Hi @LiLu I just checked your account, and it looks like the site is connected to a domain and loading properly. 😊 Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

Hi! I seem to be also having a similar type of issue. I just recently repurchased my connect site plan, and I have been trying to publish my website but the same message continues to pop up. When I search for my website, nothing appears. I had my domain name changed from stemthink.weebly.com to stemthink.org months ago, and it says that my site domain has since been disconnected. When I try to manage it, nothing seems to show. If you could help me fix my domain error so I can get my website up soon, that would be amazing. Thanks!

Hi @ks917 Thanks for posting, and welcome to the Community.

It looks like you purchased a hosting plan, but haven't actually registered the domain yet. Please navigate to the main dashboard, and click the dropdown in the top right corner, then click Domains>Register a domain.

It can take 24-48 hours to fully update on the backend once the domain is successfully registered.
