I have a site that features hundreds of pdf files available for download. There are two issues that I have:
1. I'm worried that people will use any one of the hundreds of free programs to gain access to my directory structure and download all the files in one shot, and
2. I want to make it slightly annoying to click on each item to download. I want people to give up trying to download everything and just buy the entire collection on a flash drive.
The way I've been handling this is, when you click on the link, you get a page with copyright blah blah on it. Then you have to click again to get the download.
This has been working just fine, but I end up creating hundreds of pages (each with its own download link for a pdf file). I've considered adding a 10 second countdown timer before each download, but I don't know how to do that without creating a timer page for each pdf file.
There has to be a better way.
So I have two questions:
1. How do I hide my directory structure so someone can't come along and download all my pdf files in one shot?
2. How to slow down the pdf downloads without creating hundreds of pages.
