How do I publish my Weebly site to an external subdomain that I own?
Hi,
I'd like to create a new version of my existing Weebly site, but I'd like to do this on a subdomain (beta.example.org), so that both versions of the website can live in parallel.
I've created a new Weebly site, but the "Settings > Site Address" dialog only seems to work for the root/www domains. I've tried entering the bare domain (example.org) in the Weebly diaog and pointing an A Record for the subdomain to the IP given, but it doesn't seem that Weebly recognizes that I'm sending it to the subdomain. Is there a way to, shall we say, address this?
Thanks!

HI @nkachur Thanks for reaching out. What is the domain name and subdomain you are trying to connect?

Hi @Bernadette, thanks for reaching out yourself!
The original site is hosted on a Weeby managed domain (saintgeorgeupperdarby.org), and I'd like to point a similar externally registered domain at both the original and the new sites (stgeorgeupperdarby.org and beta.stgeorgeupperdarby.org). Currently my external registrar (Hover) is set up to simply redirect to the Weebly owned domain through Hover's automated settings, however, I'm willing to set up any additional DNS records necessary to point that root domain at the original site and the beta subdomain at the new site.
If possible, I'd like to keep the Hover domain on Hover, but I guess I'd be willing to transfer it into Weebly if that's required.
Thanks,
Nick

Hi Nick
I see now what you are trying to do with the two additional sites. In order to connect the new domains you would need to be on paid plans for the new sites. Your original site is on a Pro plan, but our plans are site specific and not account wide. The other option you have is to setup forwards for your new domains and have them forward to a Weebly subdomain. Are these websites temporary or will they be permanent sites you will be investing in?

Hello again Bernadette,
Thank you for getting back to me even though I've been horrible at replying to you!
I think my request was simply challenging enough that it's just not worth too much more effort, so I've come up with another solution for my overarching problem. While the new domain is similar enough to the old domain that developing a beta site directly on it would probably cause confusion, I've found a *new* new domain that is relevant, though not known by my users, so I can safely develop on it without too much fear. I'll go with this approach for now.
Thank you for all your assistance!
Nick
