Just this morning I received a Contact Form entry that stated:
"You've been hacked!
Now we have all the information about you and your accounts:
+ all your logins and passwords from all accounts in payment systems, social. networks, e-mail, messengers and other services (cookies from all your browsers, i.e. access without a login and password to any of your accounts)
+ history of all your correspondence by e-mail, messengers and social. networks
+ all files from your PC (text, photo, video and audio files)
Changing your username and password will not help, we will hack you again.
Pay a ransom of $ 250 and you can sleep peacefully without worrying that all information about you and all your accounts, files and personal correspondence will not become public and will not fall into the hands of intruders.
[It then gave an account to transfer the money to.]
If you do not pay until tomorrow evening, then we will sell all this information on the darknet, there is a huge demand for such information
Pay $ 250 and sleep well!"
Have others seen something similar? Is there any legitimacy to the claim of being hacked? It sounds like a scam.

Thanks for your posts, everyone. Those submissions are definitely fake, spammy, form submissions that you can safely ignore. I recommend enabling the Google CAPTCHA option on your form like @BadimoMC mentioned as that can help prevent these types of junk from coming through your form.

Yes we receive the exact same email. Surely it is a scam, but I'd like to contact someone from Weebly to find out more.

I got it too, and can only assume it is a phishing email. I have reported it to the FTC and CISA, and deleted it. I am assuming this it the right thing to do, but would like Weebly to confirm this is not a valid attack, and is just phishing.

I got one of these half an hour ago. Deleted it and didn't read far enough to know if they were demanding money. It would be nice if WEEBKLY would respond to all of who seem to have received something similar in just a half a day. I have Norton as safety support so I ran a quick scan and there was no threat reported. Sigh.... Still it would be nice to have some reassurance from WEEBLY if possible.

I received two of these exact same threats a few minutes ago. The only difference between the two was the email addresses in the threat. I don't negotiate with terrorists! I'm sure this is some type of scam thing but Weebly should know this is happening.

I also received seven of these, within the past hour, all from different email accounts. Weebly, please address this issue!

I received new blackmail hack threat for website 4 this morning, and another one for website 1. This is a total of 9 threatening emails so far. Interesting, I have received at least one now for each of my 4 active websites now. Interesting, my husband who also has a website under my weebly pro plan has not received one yet.
Weebly, please respond regarding this. How many of us are being affected this, is there any true threat to account security, and what is being done to stop this? Thanks.

Like previous spam waves, you may still get these for a while until the spammer gives up. Did you enable Google Captcha for your forms?

Should I be worried about this? Why does Weebly even allow this to happen and send me no less than a series of nine emails saying this? What security measures does Weebly have in place to prevent this from happening? I am paying for my Weebly website and surely I didn't pay for a website that doesn't safeguard against things like this? Thanks so much, hoping for a real, reassuring response from someone from Weebly.

DO NOT BE WORRIED!!!
This is a well known scam that has been going around on the internet. I am a 17 year old, tech savy kid, and believe me... this is a well known scam.
