It appears that Weebly is no longer onboarding clients to it's old Designer Platform and has replaced it with a new platform. I've been told that Legacy Accounts will be transitioned within the year but I would like to learn more about the new platform if possible. Can anyone at Weebly fill me in or is their an online resource other then sales material?
Thank you.

I've paid US$150+ per month for over 5 years for Developer hosting and now you tell me "we want more and you have no choice about it". Well, it might cost a lot of time to move my sites to another platform but I will not be held over a barrel by you pricks.

Agreed, the price jack up is bull**bleep** to say the least.
I am currently looking for other platforms to replace weebly since this new management seems to have no regard for resellers here.
To stay here now for me would mean I am paying out money just to keep my clients in weebly, or as weebly seems to be planning is to give up my reseller ship and they can take all my clients in return.
Bunch of A-holes... I hope they get what they deserve. Selfish bastards.

The justification is that Square is a publicly traded company that doesn't care about quality, only their bottom line. And I guess they're entitled to do that but I'm not adding new sites to Weebly and have been slowly transitioning away from them. It's not an easy task but like many other Weebly users I'm not left with much of a choice.

If you check your account billing, @Wolf76, you should see that you now have lifetime grandfathered WebPro. We are waiving the platform fee for migrated designers such as yourself indefinitely, thanks to the feedback that you and others have provided. @gbdigitalca, you will also see this soon in your account (most likely next week).
You should also be getting an email from us about this as well. If you have further thoughts on the platform, please don't hesitate to let us know.

Thanks.. sorry for the harsh words before.. I was burning out searching for a new place for my clients to migrate to and at the same time I am having a problem with a new proposal for another new potential client since I do not know what to present them.
I will wait for the email.

Thank you Adam – I received my email this morning. It seems like Weebly has listened and taken our feedback seriously. I am super pleased, both in the end result and in the fact that our voices are being heard. Awesome news! Kudos to Weebly! A very dark cloud has lifted.

That is a relief. I do wonder how much damage it has done to the Weebly - Square brand?
While I appreciate you guys did come to your senses, in the interim I (and I'm sure others) have spent valuable time looking hard at the alternatives to Weebly. I built 2 new commercial sites using Mobirise which I'd have built on Weebly designer platform without hesitation a few months back. I even had to change my billing structure to accommodate the difference in features
I transported another clients website from the designer platform to a 'normal' ftp hosted site as they hadn't been utilising the cms and they agreed to a lower hosting fee. This I offered to a couple of other clients and I suspect they'll accept the migration offer soon.
Ah well, I suppose I've lowered my overheads and got a few more tools in my kit. And I have to say that it is nice to have alternatives as Weebly has not reclaimed all the goodwill I once had for it.

Thanks for the feedback, @ScottyNZ1 Your account is a bit different than the other users on this thread so I've sent you a private message with more information on your billing.

Why would Weebly now be collecting VAT on my developer invoices? I couldn't be geographically further away from the UK. Weebly, I understood us a San Franciscan company and I am in New Zealand (across the Pacific and not part of the EU)

Thanks for posting, @Scotty1NZ. That's actually a display error with the invoice; we are charging tax, though it's just GST and not VAT. We have a bug ticket in with our engineers to fix that so it displays correctly. If you submit a valid tax ID to our WWD staff that will change what tax if any you are charged, though.

Does this apply to all Weebly designer platform clients because I've also been in a flat spin about it.

My question is does this apply to my designer platform as well because I've also been in a flat spin about it? Has my existing designer platform been given lifetime grandfathered WebPro and can I add new sites to my existing account? I have 3 more sites to build so I need to know urgently please. Can I feel safe continuing with Weebly because when I asked support they told me it was out of the question and next year my account will be charged R4500.00 (ZAR) in order to continue?

Thanks for posting, @JenJen - yes, you also are grandfathered into WebPro since you were an existing Designer that was migrated to WWD. I'm not sure when you contacted our team; if it was before we made the decision then our CS team may have just been replying based on information at the time.

Hi Adam, thank you! What a relief, I'm just about to go live with a new website now! The conversation took place with support between the 12th and 18 September.

Ahh, ok! I think that was before we had made the decision to do that. Glad you decided to ask again!

@Adam I am late in responding to the destruction that happened on the designer platform and, with all of the changes happening in our world, was ready to jump back in today. And I was just on the phone with support today who basically shared with me that I am out of luck. I mostly had by-passed the designer platform for a lot of clients becaue of the clumsiness of it and just registered a new account with a client adding myself as an "Admin" for editing. And with this new interface it gives me hope to jump back in and use it again. Would love to receive this Desiger Pro offer as well if possible. I have been a Weebly Pro user with a grandfathered account (actually two accounts) with the deisgner platform activated for many many moons. Thank You!
