adding information to a category page.

I want to add information to my category page to describe the category. Just like adding adding a section or banner to a regular page. With an image and text over it to describe the category. How do I do that?

HI, thank you to @ashc for tagging me in.  There is no option to add information to a Category Page.  The Editor will not allow to add a Section to the page.

If it ever would become available, you'd see it live in those options.

@Goldneye @Goldneye Thank you for trying to help me and I realize you don't decide what options square decides to include. But I have to say I'm kinda disappointed in the capability to control the look and feel of my online store.

HI, I have heard from many others that the Online Store capability is not what they thought it would be.  I understand, I have tried BigCommerce, Shopify, Wix, PappaShop, etc.  They all are expensive but provide the designer pre-made templates that everyone just loves to point-and-click.

In my opinion being online since 2001 as a seller, Square Online is the easiest platform and I use it for 4 different theme stores all using the Free Plan.  They offer so much for free.

They have broken up the options and features within the Editor.  It offers so much.  On the Home Page Banner alone it can be created from a choice of 12 different layouts and 4 different section heights.

Best advice is to click every down arrow, every 3 dots, Add Sections, Add Pages, Add Galleries, Add Testimonials, Add Feature Items and see it is a very easy platform that gives sellers creative control and beautiful websites.

HI, again it gives creative control and depends on how much you want to put into the design.  Unfortunately, we have been desensitized to our creative abilities by big name providers including the designer templates.

Well @Goldneye if you have any pull. you should recommend that they add the capability to ad a section to category pages. I and I haven't been desensitized to my creative abilities. Square just hasn't given me the tools I need. And frankly the comment seemed a little insulting. Just sayin'

I'm a graphic artist by trade. A and pretty F____ING creative. And on a category page I cant even put text on an image as a jpg or png and have it appear at top of the page. Or even do what works on a standard page and add a section and include and image with text on it.  lame.

HI, no pull of any kind here.  Just on a Seller Community Board attempting to help other sellers. 

You are coming to the Online Store from a creative realm seeing your store from the CODING perspective.  

Square is from the super easy, click a button, add text, add image and done. 

I do see that you SEE where there should be MORE.  Best advice is to get pass the Editor.  Think simple and you see there is MORE with Square.

Any update on this??? I really need to be able to add text on category pages so they can read about it. I also want text on top of my shop all page so I can inform customers of temporary closures, updates, etc. If it would be a feature request, please add it ASAP. This is not a difficult request and I would add the code myself if that was an option.

Thank you for checking on this Feature Request for adding more information to the Category page. I don't have any new updates for you at this time. 

I would recommend adding this to our Ideate Board, so you can stay in the loop on the request. Also, other sellers can add their voice to the request too.
