Using Square Without WiFi or Data

Has anyone ever used Square Point of Sale without Data OR WiFi?

 

My store is in a very remote location where we don't have access to cell service and the WiFi is satellite and dependent on the weather.  I'm curious if anyone else has used the app without connecting to the internet and had success.  I can probably connect once daily to update and save everything online, but it won't be continuously online.

 

I'm not concerned about credit cards not going through, as I know the majority of my customers.

 

Has anyone ever used this app on multiple iPads at the same time?  How has that worked, and have you ever done it offline?

yes, you can use offline mode as long as you connect within 72 hours of swiping a card offline. https://squareup.com/help/us/en/article/5095-process-payments-with-offline-mode . as you stated you will be liable for fraudulent, NSF, and expired cards in offline mode.

 

yes, you can run on as many iPads at a time as you want.  we run on 6+ between iPads and iPhones.

If you use the offline mode, is there something specific you have to do when you re-connect to the internet to upload your sales? Or will they automatically upload from pending to completed sales by themelves?

once you connect back to WiFi it should automatically.  If you have been connected for like 10 minutes with the app open you can do a force quit and restart the app, but do not delete the app as you will lose pending charges.

 

you have 72 hours from the time of the transaction to get it connected.
