UPC Creation and "Code Not Applied" Error Message
Hello! New to Square here. My company has used primitive paper invoice tickets since it opened. I have done the research to bring us into the digital age of inventory management. What I have done this far is
Create an Excel Spreadsheet in the format to import inventory in one batch.
Create my own SKUs based on item information.
Create my own UPC based that is 12 digits long ** Here is where I have run into the problem**
Use the "Print Label" Feature on Square for Retail Plus.
Now the system is giving me "Code (insert UPC here) was not applied" error alert whenever I attempt to scan the barcode. I have printed the barcodes on the Avery 5160 labels using a standard printer as directed by the website.
I think I went wrong in the UPC creation. How does one create a UPC that is readable by Square for Retail Plus?

Are you seeing this error on any barcode you're trying to scan? And when you're creating the barcodes, there wasn't an issue with customizing, correct?
