Should my employees be doing a pay out for tips?
When we process credit card tips that are wrote in and settled the employees take cash out of the drawer. My question is does that "tip" amount get reflected as cash out of the drawer or should they be entering a "pay out" in the reports? The odd thing is some employees do the pay out with the tip amount and some do not, but the drawer is not off either way they do it.

Are you saying that even if you do not enter the tips paid to servers that your cash drawer balances? I'm going to answer below with a few bullets that may help answer your question, but please let me know if I need to narrow down anything!
1: Paid out is for if you want to pay the credit card tips to the servers that night from your cash drawer and that's what most sellers use
2: The Tips amount shouldn't be reflected in the cash drawer reports because we don't track cash tips and the cash drawer would ONLY track cash.

Hmm, this is interesting.
If you are using the Manage Cash Drawer feature, then anytime employees are taking cash out of the drawer, then Paid Out should definitely be used. If cash is taken out and no record of it is taken, then the amount of money in the drawer should definitely be less than what is in the system and not balanced.
We don't do CC tips so we don't deal with this, but personally if I did I wouldn't have my employees take the cash for tips, I would distribute them myself so that there is less room for errors & mistakes & employees not doing the Paid Out.
