Retail items not part of tip percentage at checkout

Hello! We are a bakehouse & cafe but also sell retail items. Customer purchase both baked goods (we want the tip percentage displayed on this at checkout) and retail items (we do not want tip percentage calculate on these items)- is this possible?

Thank you!

Hi @LuckysBakehouse.  That is not currently possible.  Tipping is a check-level function, all or nothing.  You can send a feature request to the appropriate POS product team, if you want.  But otherwise, the only suggestion I can give you is to ring up retail items on a separate check, which might be a total nightmare for your staff.

I’m tagging a few beauty and barber shop, and well as other service type people I know in the Super Seller Program.  I’m betting that since many of them also sell retail products in addition to tipped services, they might have some thoughts or input.

Hello there,

This is not as smooth of a process but when my guests add retail to service.  I simply let them know the service price total and they select "custom tip".

Hope this helps, if I think of a better work around I'll circle back to this message chain.

Hey! We don’t currently use the Tip function due to tax reasons so it’s something I can’t currently comment on! It does make sense what you are saying though. Hope you find a a way x

Hello @LuckysBakehouse!

Unfortunately, I won't be much assistance either - my clients choose to tip me based off the entire check. Having two separate transactions or following @rjonin's suggestion are your best options at this time.
