Online Store: What's the best way to determine my shipping rates?
My online store sells different types of items that vary in size, weight, and cost. Paying $72/mo to access real time rates is ridiculous, so I could use some advice.
I've initially set up shipping by weight and thought I covered all my bases, but it's not working well. I offer USPS First Class, thinking if weight exceeded the amounts I outlined it wouldn't show up as a shipping option, but it still does—and that's what everyone's choosing, so I'm losing money. So a couple questions:
1. Can I hide shipping options for certain orders? (ex. not giving USPS First Class as an option for order that are X big.
2.What's the best option people have found for not losing money or sales because of shipping?

👋 Hey @danielle3! Welcome to the Seller Community.
It sounds like what you're trying to do should be possible. I'd like to run this by one of our eCommerce folks to be sure—can you reply here with your Online Store URL? With that, we'll be able to get a better picture of configuration options.
I'll keep an eye out for your reply. 😊

Hey @danielle3! Justin here chiming in for @Tom-
After talking with our Weebly Specialists, I'm afraid there's no way of assigning rules per product/category but it’s a popular feature request we're looking into.
Since you've setup several different rates, all of which have a default/backup applied, the cart is applying every single rule to each order. If the order does not fall within the parameters of each individual rule, the backup rate will show as the only shipping option.
Although not ideal, the best workaround is to explicitly include the shipping rule in the title so it's customer facing - ex. “First Class for Orders up to $X.XX” and change the backup rate for first class to match the same backup as priority. Given that you have a large range of prices, you might want to look more into upgrading.

Just throwing our name in the ring for this.
Basically, the online store is not going to be very useful for me until I can figure this out. I may be able to find a work around by using weight or multi item tiers for shipping, but as is I can't offer everything through the online store.
We are trying to offer our photo frames on our site as well as options to order personalized holiday cards. Clearly, there's a huge weight difference, which obviously makes a huge difference in shipping cost, and there's no way to charge them differently. At least not without doing a ton of math and calculations...
I get it, you want us to subscribe to the paid version for it to be easy....

Thanks for adding your voice here, @crystalimages - we appreciate you jumping in and checking in on this outstanding Feature Request. Are you able to implement the workaround that Justin suggested above? Either way, I am pushing your post over to our Product Teams for visibility on your feedback.
