It'd be super helpful to be able to run a report with the average ticket price and number of tickets for a given period of time. Does this exist? I have looked but never found one! Hopefully I'm just missing it!
Cheers.

Okay, I figured this out.
Go to custom report
Create new Report
the top header should be what you want. If nothing is there click add report and select key statistics. This will give you want you want.
Title and save report.
Click on your newly created report.
Set the date range and Bam!!! you got it.

I wish there was a way to sort transactions from largest to smallest but that kind of filter doesn't exist at the moment.
As for finding the avg transaction size, I suggest exporting your Transaction report into a spreadsheet then using a mean/average function built into Excel, Google Sheets, etc....

You can get the number of transaction for a given period in the Payment report. Then you have to do the math to get average transaction price. Note this price will include tax.

Right. We do that now... Since Square has the average ticket price and the number of tickets on the register for the current open drawer - thought maybe that could just pull that into a report to make keep us as lazy as we can be!

I see the header info on the Custom Report, but is there a way to get the # of transactions and the Avg per Ticket by day?

I'm looking for the number of transactions per HOUR. I base my staffing needs on how many people come in the door during a certain time (10-11 I only need 1 because we may only have 4-5 customers; 2-3 I need about 3 because that's when our business picks up, etc). I can't find a way to get the number of transactions PER HOUR. The dollar sales doesn't really matter because if we have 1 big transaction for $500, I still only need 1 person - if we have 50 transactions for $10 each, I need to schedule more staff. Is there any way to get that information?

So, the easiest way is to just go to sales summary report Set your date and hover over the timeline. When you do this it will tell you how many payments (transactions) you had during that hour. Notice that this gives you a comparison to last year. I don't have any sales last year. But I had 31 Sales during the 10:00 am Hour.
The other way is with a custom report.

OK thanks. I'll just have to do an excel spread sheet and enter the number for each hour for each day of the week myself so I can see which hours are the busiest.

Hi, it is now 2 years after you posted a manual workaround to this issue...average ticket sales does not seem like it would be so terribly difficult for Square to auto-generate right onto the sales screen. Is there a timeline for implementing this feature? Thanks, Alexis

@octopuscoffee2, thanks for your post! I went ahead and moved your comment to another thread where others were discussing how to get at the average ticket price. Take a look at the discussion on the first page and let us know what you think!

Considering how robust the reporting and analytics already are, how much data Square collects on each sale and customer, *and* how much money we pay them for their services, it's pretty ridiculous that we can't easily access "highest ticket" with one or two clicks.
