Individual commission % setup for contractors/employees

We’re a cooperative art gallery with 14 artists. Artists pay different commissions to the gallery (15%, 30% or 40%) on their sold work. It is my understanding that artists should be set up as 'contractors' (or would they be 'employees'?) and that each contractor’s commission could be set individually. Is that correct? Also, that Square’s "Contractor Only Payroll" has no base subscription fee and is just $5 per month per contractor paid, right? (We have no employees or hourly fees, only commission on sold work) Lastly is this payroll feature available with the free “Square for Retail” App or would we need the “Square for retail plus”?

Thank you!

@AntoineArt Thanks for reaching out! The ability to pay commissions is only through the Square Payroll subscription and not through any others. Here is a help article for how to get it set up if you decide to use Payroll to pay commission, but otherwise, you can simply track employee sales and calculate commissions from their sales reports.
