How to bypass the Modifier selection at POS but still use in OnLine store?

This is more of a How-To since I racked my brain over this for a couple months.  Hopefully it helps you too!

I finally figured out how to bypass the default Modifier from popping up at POS but still allow the On-Line store to use it.  It took 4 calls w/support with no luck, begging to get the enhancement request built ASAP, but I came across a great work around while working with Anna from Square.

Background:

We're a custom candle shop allowing customers to pick their own scents and blend them to make their perfect candle.  When Covid hit, we had to go online.  We put up our containers and created a custom modifier set (over 80 scents to choose from).  We then ask the customer to choose 1 or 2 at checkout and tell us how they'd like the scents blended (ie. 40% Vanilla / 60% Bourbon).   This worked great for on-line sales.

However, now that we're slowly opening back up our in-store experience, when I check out the customer and choose the item, it would automatically pop-up the modifier list.  I do NOT want this as it slows down the checkout process.  I just want to choose the container and checkout.

Think of this like Subway... online I'd need to know the type of sandwich (item) and the toppings (modifiers) being ordered.  However, when a customer is in the store and I'm checking them out, I don't want to have to choose the sandwich and EACH topping they put on the sandwich.  That would just take too long, I simply want to choose the sandwich.  This works because there are no additional costs for the toppings.

The "fix" or "work-around" was fairly simple:

1) From the Modifiers section, choose your modifier name (ie. Choose Your Scents)

2) Scroll down to the bottom of your list and you'll see the "Locations" section

3) Un-Check the Location of your physical store (ie. Mountain Lux Candles)

4) Click [Save]

I then waited a minute or two to make sure everything was synch'd up, closed all my browsers and re-opened my on-line store link.  Everything still worked and the on-line process asked the customer to choose their scents.

I then tested my POS, choosing the same container, and the Modifiers was by-passed and did NOT ask for the scents.  Perfect!

Hope you find this useful.
