How t better line up my feature item multiple images to variations and modifiers?

How to better line up my feature item selection drop down boxes for variation and modifiers with multiple images? I have had to list my images in a separate section under the item description which is confusing to customers.   Also why do the modifiers not allow image references? Linking images verses item details is very limited.

 Terri,

I attached a screenshot on my second featured listing item but it's probably very hard to see.   You may be better to just look at my site first to understand my questions and problem displaying images on featured items.  Here is my website Visionarycustomrods.com.  I build custom Fly rods and trying to display an easily understood customer interface to build their own fly rod by selecting various rod components, rod type, rod color, fly reel seat type, Cork grip type, line guide type, thread colors and other options.  I was able to set up variations and modifiers to do this but my grief is the customer does not have images to reference right beside each drop box selection to clarify what they are selecting to build their custom rod.  I started with a very simple website with just a few items in the variations and added linked images here thinking that these would be displayed.   However your featured item layout options are very limited in my opinion and what I really need is the ability to link modifiers to images but then they probably still would not display beside each drop down box option?  I ended up posting all images below the featured listing and labeled each image, this works .. I understand it but it's very confusing to my customer base.   I don't understand why square does not allow images to rotate horizontally across the screen and pinned to a selected listing option like some other web builders?   Sorry just loosing patience with your builder even though I like everything but the featured listing options ... Most important part.  Hope you can assist me as I subscribed to square on a month to month basis to ensure I was satisfied and if I cannot get this resolved, I will have to try some other web builder like Wix Velo.  Thanks for listening and appreciate anything you can do to help me salvage all the work I have put into my website this far .

Ps. I have tried to format some screenshots of variations and modifiers but will not copy.   If you need more information , let me know how to send to you.  Is there any way we can get into a remote session to review the website together.   Anything you can do would be much appreciated.  I like the capability of square just need to get past this display methodology. Thank you

HI, thank you for the screenshot and link.  This is a seller to seller community board with no customer support except for moderators.  Please accept feedback below from a non-fishing indoor type of person.

Your items are exceptional and I do understand they need to be presented in a way to entice the customer to pay top dollar.

The Square Editor platform is not able to have all images linked to each individual selection.  It is very confusing with so many options and features available.

It is very information heavy with a lot of text reading.  I could not locate a Shop All page to review additional items.  A Shop All page is very useful to a customer.  It displays all items to entice the customer to consider other items.

Usually advice would be, not to look at the item as a whole but break it down into manageable pieces.  First, what determines price, second, additional options.

Hope This Helps!

Terri,

  • Thanks for your kind comments about my products.   How do I set up a Shop All page ?  On my second feature item, I set it up to make reference to similar items so not sure what the Shop all page would do at this point until I add more listings.   I originally set up square free page to just act as a Gallery to showcase my past work and then referenced my Etsy shop for sales. But I decided I really liked the square web building utility and wanted to try the featured item listing .....sometimes you don't know what you want until you try it right?  Well I appreciate your frank comment that Square is not capable of linking my images to selections.   I setup my price point items and custom options after reading a seller comment and feedback on an ice cream shop... In a way my rod building works similar, set up 3 rod type Variations which set the major price keys and then added modifiers for everything else which had some minor price additions.   I would be satisfied to be able to link at least one image for each major Variation and then one on each modifier , is that possible?  Basically this second listing is for 3 types of fly rods . I thought about just limiting it to one ie say a 3wt Fly rod and then list the other custom options which I now have in modifiers under Variations . If I can do this and link each Variation with one image , I would be satisfied .  However the drop down boxes for each of these Variations must display that one linked image for each, could be above, below or along side the drop down box, doesn't matter as long as it's there.   I could then reference any additional o images for more color or material variations below if needed.  Is there a way to make this type of layout work?  I also can get away without some images on Variations line line guides as this is simple but for example if I ask a customer what acrylic material they want on the rod , they won't know unless I display the different options.  I could even cut the options down as I mentioned but have to be able to see at least one image with just about every Variation. Again is this possible?  Thanks for your time and ideas.

HI, you could offer various combinations instead of all options at once.  Customers do not read.  Extremely long paragraphs are hard to read.

Shop All Page

Online Dashboard, Website, Edit Site, click Header, click Navigation, click Navigation Links, (there should be a Shop All page as default, if not, +Add Navigation Link, Shop All)

Hope This Helps!
