Does the Appointments App save a customer's card on file?

[The title of this thread has been edited from the original: No Show Protection question]

Clients have to put their card info in to book but they can then choose to not have the card stored and they are allowed to book anyway. My question is does Square have their card info stored since I do not if they choose that option and then they no show?

Hi @deboraham12,

Thanks for posting again in the community.

If you have no-show protection on, when your customer books an appointment online, the credit card is stored for that specific appointment regardless of whether the buyer selects 'I authorize this [merchant] to store this card for future purchases." Instead, ticking 'I authorize this [merchant] to store this card for future purchases' saves the card indefinitely.

But how do you go about charging that card? Even though it says "no-show protected with card ending in ####" I cannot figure out how to charge it.

Hey there @lindsaywilsondc 👋

To charge a card for a no show protected appointment the time must have passed or be after your effective cancellation policy. Then when you look up the missed appointment you will need to cancel the appointment and that would trigger your cancellation policy and an option to charge.

I hope this information is helpful!

I had many credit cards stored for future use of my regular clients and they are still stored to be used on the ipad or phone for check out but no longer accessible on the desktop where I schedule all of the future appointments.  I can no longer chose to prevent No-Shows from the desk top.  Can you tell me why they disappeared and how to link the desktop version with the device version to schedule with no-show protection without having to make all the appointments through the device?  I allow online requests but only recently so I mainly schedule appointments in the salon on the desktop.
