Difference in group's customer count between directory and email campaign

In my Directory I have put 175 customers into a group called "Current Members." When I created an email campaign today it said I only have 136 customers in this group.  Any advice as to why there is a discrepancy?

It sounds like some of your customers have unsubscribed or have not opted in to receive marketing emails from your business. 

 

You can check the status of this under the Customer's profile in your Directory. 

 

Go to your Dashboard > Customer > Select your Current Member Group > Pick a customer > Scroll down to Marketing for their current status.
