Create own Purchase Order Numbers

I need to create my own purchase order numbers. They help me remember when I placed the order and from what vendor. We also include the customer order number so that any salesperson can help them when they come into the shop. Sometimes I have to look through each order to match with the delivery so I can receive my items. It's very time consuming. 

Is there a way to circumvent or remove the Square PO numbers and create your own?

As of right now there is not a way to remove or create your own number for purchase orders. 

After providing more insight into how you operate your business I certainly understand the need for a feature like this.
