Counter Service leaving ticket open

Hello, I run a restaurant with Square for Restaurant POS. My POS system is set to table service. At breakfast/lunch we are counter service and at dinner we are table service. To achieve this we have created a floor plan with all of our number cards at tables for lunch and breakfast.

I’ll give an example for my issue. 4 patrons walk in. They are eating together and paying separately. We open a ticket on “#23” and take the first order. Then take his payment and move to the person. We also place the order on #23 as they are sitting together. So in the end my kitchen will get 4 tickets for #23 instead of one ticket for #23 with 4 items. Is there a way to cash out a single individual and still hold a ticket open so we can send all order through at the end of the table?

Thanks for asking about this @Trattoriazaza!

I actually checked in with our Restaurants Team to see if it's possible to accomplish what you're looking to do. The only way to send all of the orders on one ticket back to the kitchen would be to use a single ticket, and split it up at the time of payment. So you'd basically be doing what you are now- just in reverse.

I am experiencing the same issue. I also would like to keep a table "occupied" until the customers depart, but they pay at the counter. So once they pay, the table is "open" on the floor plan. Is there a way to keep the table unavailable for seating even after the customer has paid?
