Can I edit individual invoices in a recurring series before they are sent?
My business is weekly meal delivery and I am setting up recurring invoices for my clients. I want to be able to update individual invoices with the coming week's menu and a link for feedback without changing the top level series. Can I edit individual invoices in a recurring series before they are sent?
I want the top level invoice to have a welcome message and details on their subscription. Will this be included in every invoice (can I edit it out)?
Also, as feedback, there should be an option within the recurring invoice creation process that I can choose to automatically charge the card on file instead of going back into the series and changing the options. Does the client still receive a copy of the invoice even if it is charged to the card on file?

At this time, the option to edit individual invoices in a recurring series as you've described isn't available, but I can certainly see how this would help streamline your workflow. In addition, yes, your client will still receive a copy of the invoice when their card on file is charged.

Coming on two years after this original post, has there been any development in this area? I'm a piano teacher who bills by the week and would love to automate the invoicing process. However, the invoice amount needs to reflect the number of particular days in a given calendar month (e.g., whether there are 4 or 5 Mondays in the upcoming month).
Also, I would like to be able to add a custom item to the recurring invoice, if possible. This would be the case where, in addition to the standard number of lessons and weeks in the month, I may want to add a line item for reimbursement for a book or a performance fee.

Hi @Chad, +1 for the request to edit individual invoices in a recurring series after they are sent. An example would be to automate invoicing for a base subscription service but have the ability to add additional one-time services or discounts as needed without modifying the entire series or issuing separate invoices.

It's been over 5 years now; is this feature available yet? I have students who pay a recurring invoice for guitar lessons and I'd like to be able to add incidentals on a given month. For example, sometimes they want to buy a t-shirt or other merch; I'd like to be able to add that to their invoice for the month (but not following months) instead of having to create a whole new one.
As another example, I have clients who pay a membership fee, and I'd like to be able to add an enrollment fee to the first of the series, but not following invoices.

I also need to be able to edit a single invoice. I also dislike that I can't do a full discount- it has to at least be $1. I own a hair salon, and my stylists are given vacation. I at least need to be able to apply a 100% discount, or cancel a single invoice without altering the entire thing. This is not a huge ask, and it's been asked of square for five years or more. I've been using square for four years. I've taken and paid back three loans. You guys have definitely made money off my business. Can we start implementing these things?

For you first inquiry, editing a single invoice in recurring series is feature request still. I do understand how frustrating this can be that it still has not be implemented. I always encourage sellers to submit a request themselves giving our team more specific insight into how the this feature would benefit your business. For the second question, about the discounts. I am not quite understanding. You can create and apply a 100% discount during checkout. I am sure I am missing or not understanding fully here.
