Best way to create and print custom barcodes?

We are trying to find an efficient way to create and print our own barcode labels to place on items we design or order in that currently do not have them. We have had success with the wireless scanner we purchased through Square but are now struggling with the Star TSP654IISK Sticky Label Printer. Perhaps this isn't the best accessory? Install with this has been a nightmare and we are trying to find out if this is indeed the best option or what other options are available?

Sorry to hear that you've been encountering some issues with this product. The Star TSP654IISK Sticky Label Printer is a third party hardware supplied by Star Micronics. This device is currently compatible with iOS products or Square Stand only. 

There are other third party options that are compatible with our products here not sold on our shop site.
