Android Features and Fresh KDS?

I am just setting up Square POS for our new QS burger location.  Time and again the Square support references an iPAD...but we don;t use any iOS in our company so we delibertly chose Square for the Android version...but now it seems like there are a lot of "features" that are not available for Android or don;t work with Android.  Certinaly an android tablet has all the capabilities of an iPad and more...so this can only mean a lack of commitment on the Square team to building a robust application.

I am particularly miffed that Fresh KDS (an Android app) says it only works with the iOS version of Square...and there is no way to contact freshKDS without signing up for a service plan...wich apparantley would not actually work with my hardware....SO can any one confirm or deny that i can in fact NOT set up my square POS using my brand new Galaxy 10 tab purchased from square..to connect to my Android Fesh KDS tablets?

Or an email or phone number for FreshKDS support would work as well.

thank

trips

Have you found a resolution to your issue? I'm in the same boat. All my devices are Android as well. Thank you for your help.

Bummer. When u say paper tickets do you mean a printer or hand written? I'm looking for a compatible Bluetooth or WiFi kitchen printer for my food booth and I'm so frustrated and confused.

Hi @theparkll,

Though this topic is more than a year old, I wanted to chime in with some updated information.  At the time of your post, Fresh KDS was a "released as-is" piece of software.  It was buggy, and not well maintained.  Kind of a forgotten project, if you will.

Since then, however, we have hired a dedicated team of developers, designers, sales people, and support staff.  We have also completely rebuilt the entire system from the ground up.  Fresh KDS is now stable, packed with some great features, trusted by thousands of awesome customers, and works with both iOS and Android.

I'm sincerely sorry that you had a poor experience with Fresh KDS - and that's our bad.  But we're here if you ever want to give it another try.

If you have any questions, reach out to us via live chat on our website.

Best,

Andrew & the Fresh KDS team

FRESH KDS STILL SUCKS!!!! Have you tried to ever reach your tech support? Half of the features don't work if a screen goes to sleep forget it game over tickets lost. Why in the world if we are paying you monthly don't you just capture tickets in the cloud and then send them down to the device so you could make sure they were received?? It would solve 90% of all our problems. Better yet why not make a dedicated device solution using something like a raspberry pi or support an android TV device and use a bump bar for people who need bigger screens? you could sell a $50 device at cost with a case and power supply for $399 with your software on it?
