Add Customer to checkout

My checkout screen used to have the option to add the customer in the upper right corner. Now its gone. Why is this gone and how am I supposed to add the customer to my sale? The only option I see is to go into "Customers" first then pull up the customer then choose New Sale. Very cumbersome. Or after I finish the sale I can choose add customer but my employees keep missing that and if you miss it its too late

Hello @SMW thanks for your post. I'm sorry you're having trouble with this. Are you running Square for Retail (+) or just POS? And on an iPad or Register? I'm looking at my Square register screen running POS and I am able to see the Add Customer button.

One fix may be to either just log out and back in....or you could try a restart, or factory reset. Another option is to revert to the last version of the operating system.

Hi there, @SMW 👋 Just popping in to offer my own piece of advice, in addition to @HC_Charlie

This sounds like a glitchy app issue. I'm not sure which point-of-sale device you're on, but I recommend checking to make sure you are on the latest app version and software version.

I am using the Square stand with an iPad that has just been updated. As a matter of fact that is when the customer disappeared. When I updated it. I don’t  know what to do

I just tested this out through the Square Point of Sale app on my phone. I wasn't able to see the option to "add Customer to sale" until after I entered an amount or added an item to the sale. 

If you still aren't seeing the option to add a Customer to the sale after trying this, please reach out directly to our Support Team. They will gather some information from you so they can file a Support Ticket and our Engineers can investigate this behavior further.

I will but do you see HC_CHARLIEs comment above? There is clearly a “add ciutkmer” button there and there used to be in mine too. You are saying your screen doesn’t look like HCCHARLIE? Why the discrepancy?

Perhaps there is a different in operating system versions..you are using an ipad on a stand, and I am using the Square Register, so there could be differences in versions. On your ipad, it may be that you have to do as suggested and add an item or amount first before you have the option to add a customer. (Maybe adding the first item is required for the software to trigger the step of Adding a Customer).

No I had it! I had the customer field until I updated my iPad. Now it’s gone 😞 I’ll call support when time
