Best practice is that GST & PST are displayed separately on receipts (so that customers can claim one or both back if allowed). As far as I can tell, there is no way to do that right now.
Step 1: am I correct -- do the taxes just display as "taxes" on the receipt?
Step 2: if I'm correct, how soon can you change that?
We love Square for most things, but this is going to really annoy some of our customers. Thank you!

Depends on where you are. I'm in Ontario, we put it as HST only... I can't speak for other provinces.
If you do need them broken out, you can add multiple taxes... And choose to enable them both... We only charge GST for a few items, like children's clothing. We noticed you can have 2 taxes active at the same time when, by accident one day, the total seemed off... Turned out both HST and GST were adding to the total at the time.
Very easy to set up.
