POS Software on Square Register
Apparently, according to Square Tech Support, I ended p purchasing the wrong system for our businesses. And because we purchased the system back in January and just recently installed it, we cant return for a refund.
Anyway, we are trying to run 2-busineses from one location/register. So, I thought if I set up 2-locations we can keep the businesses separate, (with separate bank accounts), that things would work out. It's been a huge headache. I was just told that in order to do this correctly we would need the Square Stand with the POS system onto the iPad? But, while I was comparing the 2-systems I noticed that POS Software was compatible with the Square Register, this was listed on Square's Site. Does anyone know this to be true, and if so, how do I go about switching/downloading the software for the POS system onto the Square Register?

Hello @CBDandE @thanks for your post. The register does run the POS software already. The other option is to upgrade to Square for Retail or Retail Plus, but I don’t know if those would help you in your situation. Even having two locations, I think your bank account would still be the same for both locations (don’t think but not sure locations can specific bank accounts.
you may be able to set up a totally different account with email/login, but you’d have to sign in/out each time you wanted to take a transaction for the separate businesses. If you’re serving customers simultaneously for both businesses this could become tiresome.
maybe another seller can offer suggestions if they have experience keeping two businesses separate?

Thank you Charlie, it is quite a dilemma. One side of the business is the sale of CBD products and that, unfortunately, HAS to have its own Bank account. The other side is a gift shop. And to go back and forth between both locations I have to log completely out, close out one business, then log back in and restart the the cash drawer. A HUGE PAIN IN THE BUTT!!! I’ll be calling Square tomorrow to hopefully figure something out

I also have a separate retail botanicals company running under Squares CBD program in the same location as my regular business. Yes you want the CBD account to have its own bank account. While it’s possible to run both Square for Retail and the Regular Square POS on the same hardware I can tell you from experience that it’s going to slow things down and very quickly becomes a PITA because you’re ending up completely signing out of one account and signing into the other account. Best solution I came up with was to leave the register signed into my regular account since that’s the majority of my sales then I set up another checkout station using the Square Stand & IPad out of the way over on the botanicals section of the store that stays logged into the CBD account
