select multiple variations

I sell jams and homemade crochet goods online and at a local market.  I want to be able to select multiple variations on the checkout screen at once.  For example, I have an item called "Jam" with five flavours.  When I in the checkout screen and I select 'jam' it gives me the list of five flavours.  I want to be able to select 2 or 3 (or more) flavours at the same time.  Currently, I have to add one flavour at a time which takes too much time when you're manning a market stall alone and have a rush of customers.  Is this possible?

At the moment the way item variations work is that you can only select one variation for an item at one time - you're unfortunately not able to select multiple variations of an item and have them add additional items to the overall transaction. I get how this would be super handy in your situation (especially as a workaround for item bundles not being available) but I've not heard of this functionality coming to item variations.

A note to add that this functionality would be great for my circumstance to. I have an item Pie, then flavours under that as Variations. I'd love to be able to select multiple variations.

I've been playing around with having my flavours as modifiers too but as you have replied elsewhere, Square doesn't treat Modifiers as items so that's not the best way to sort. However using this workaround, I can select multiple (but still not multiple modifiers which would be good too...)

What is the likelihood that Multiple Variations of an Item will be implemented?

To clarify your use case, would you be effectively bundling multiple pies of different flavours together, or baking a single pie containing the multiple selected flavours?

Except with this method I still cant complete a transaction for say 2 x mince pies and 1 x steak & mushroom

Not sure a single pie with all those flavours together would be too popular - however you might be onto something !?! 😉

Got you @BakerST! It may be a bit difficult to manage fitting every flavour into a single pie, though I do like the sound of a curry, pepper steak and potato combo pie 😋

I think the more workable solution to what you're trying to achieve here is to think a little differently about how you're setting up your items.

The way I'd recommend setting it up would be to have "Pie" as a category rather than as an item. Then you can have a different item for each pie flavour. This would be a very similar setup to pizza menus I've seen from Square sellers before, so if you have 12 different flavours of pie, you want them to be set up as 12 different items.

You modifiers then become things like "Add Tomato Sauce", "Add BBQ Sauce" and your variations would be different variants of the item - eg "Gluten free pastry" or "Family Size".

Multiple variations being added is very unlikely in the future - because the feature is built to denote the item being a unique variation. Does the solution above work though?

Thanks but I have done that also. The issue with that, is that if a customer purchases both a chicken pie, and a steak pie, and a hot and spicy pie, then Im in and out of that Item 3 times.... would be great if I could select the 3 variations at the same time. 

So for now we are using modifiers to achieve this and dealing with the impact that has on reporting.

I have  a similar problem. We sell a fish family pack and the variation is crumbed, battered or grilled. The problem is that you can’t choose say 1 grilled, 2 battered, 1 crumbed, if this is how you want your fish. Is there a way to set this up?

Currently, item variations only allow you to select one variation for an item at a time. At this time, the ability to select multiple variations of an item is a feature request we're tracking. I can definitely see how this would be a useful feature to have when selling packs where customers might want to select different choices.  

A workaround could be to add a text modifier allowing your customer to add the different selections as a note. We'll notify you of any updates regarding this feature request!

A couple of different options I'd love:

1. I sell candles and would be super handy to click multiple fragrances in one go for the same product.
For example. Customer wants to buy 3x candle tins at $12 each, each a different fragrance.
I'd like to select item 'candle tin' and then it would be super handy to be able to click 'candle tin' then 'french pear' 'vanilla' ' caramel' etc.
Automatically adding the 3 different fragranced candle tins, at a total $36


2. Create a "bundle" offer
For example. Candle trio gift pack, for $34. Comes with 3 candles and a gift box.
I'd love to add the trio gift pack as an item, then all the fragrances as options.
So when I add to cart, I click "Gift pack" Then choose the 3 different fragrances.
