I have been asking square for years to separate the service total from the product total so clients can tip on only the service amount. It’s very awkward to have to tell a client “if you want to tip me please don’t hit the percentage buttons but use the custom tip button”. And then proceed to tell them their service total so they can figure out the tip. Or they hit the percentage button before you can tell them and they’ve tipped you an inappropriate amount.
Anyone else have this issue?

I ring up two separate transactions. I ring up service first (I mention that clients seem to like to see product and services as two transactions on their statements).
It would be nice to have this all in one transaction but this is my best remedy.
I think it sits better w clients separated in two transactions; it breaks up the “ouch” of everything added up all together. 🙂

Ditto! I try to remember to state what the service total is. I also try to ask if they would like their service and
retail total rung up separately. It would be nice though if it could be separated somehow.

I agree, Square needs to fix this. I always have to tell clients what the service cost is vs the products. I like the idea of ringing it up separately like someone else already stated. But honestly, we shouldn’t have to do that. Square needs to fix this.
