Discount codes do not work for gift cards

We are trying to offer discounts with affiliate sites. I tried testing using a discount code to BUY a giftcard (NOT redeem-that works fine). I was trying to use a coupon, as I didn't want to keep buying giftcards when testing end-to-end. But the coupon doesn't work. It doesn't change the amount when I apply the coupon.

Hm.. that's interesting. I don't think I've ever tested a coupon on a gift card purchase.. Can you please post a link to your site so I can take a look? Thanks!

Thanks for posting. I just confirmed with support that coupons will not work with a gift card purchase. I even tried assigning a coupon code to the gift card category and it wouldn't work. I'm not sure the exact reasoning behind this, but I'll see if I can get more info for you. Sorry for any inconvenience!
