can't change font size with toolbar

Users have posted problems with not being able to change the font size with the toolbar (going back to 2017).  But this problem is still occurring!  When I select text using the floating toolbar, I can change it bold, or italic or change the color.  But when I use the + or - to change the font size, nothing happens!  This problem occurs with the latest versions of Safari and with Chrome.

I have contacted support and they acknowledged that they coulr reproduce the problem and said that they had a fix.  But the problem is still occurring.  Any suggestions?

Hi Moira. I made a copy of the page to test this, and it is working for me on my computer. Do you have a different device you can test? Have you tried using a private or incognito browser in case you are experiencing a cache or cookie issue?

Thanks for your reply.  What you show is exaclyt how it used to work, but no longer works for me on my Mac.  I don't have a different device to try it on :-(.  But I have cleared cache and cookies to no available.  The same thing problem occurs using Safari or Chrome.

I don't know what a private or incognito browser is.  Can you point me to something?

Hi Moira. In Chrome, go to File > New Incognito Window. That'll open one for you; in that browser window log into Weebly and try doing what you see in the screenshot.

Thanks!  Tried the incognito window.  No change!  Still can't increase or decrease font size with the tool bar.

Hmm... does this happen with all text, or just certain text. For example, if you add a test text element, type in some gibberish and select that, does it work?

This happens with all text!  If I add a new text box, it still happens.  If I select just some text, it still happens!  Really a frustrating problem!

Are you sure the browsers you are using are up to date? I'm on a Mac and it's working for me in your account/site whether I use Chrome or Firefox. You can check to see what browser version you are using here

Are you able to install the newest version of mac OS (Big Sur) on your computer? It should be a free update available in the App Store.

Changing the font size used to work with the toolbar using Safari or Chrome with Mojave.  One day, it no longer worked.  I upgraded to Catalina (and updated both Safari and Chrome).  And the toolbar still did not work.  I contacted support, thye could reproduce the problem, and they said that there was in fact a but and that they fixed it.  But, it still doesn't work on my site.  I'm really reluctant (and not ready) to upgrade to Big Sur.   It's not at all clear to me as to why an upgrade to a new operating system would fix the problem.

It can sometimes resolve issues that occur in a browser, as sometimes there are differences between browser versions on different OS versions. We haven't been able to replicate this time, so I was thinking about what might be different for you compared to what I have. I'm running Big Sur so I thought it's possible that could be doing it.

Good point about upgrading operating system, but I can't do that at this time.  BTW, the problem with the toolbar does not occur on a Windows machine using Chrome.  Unfortunately, I do not have regualr access to a Windows machine.  So I am really stuck with this problem!  And changing font size is a really important piece of functionality.  There does not seem to be a work around from Weebly on this.

Did you try the copy page I made? I wonder if it's something about the particular element on the original page you are trying to edit. The copy page should be listed at the bottom of the list on the left side (after clicking on the Pages tab) but you can also try adding a brand new page. Just make sure to check the box that says "hide in navigation" so that the page is hidden.

Yes, I did try the copy page that you made.  The same problem occurs.  I also tried creating a brand new page and the same problem occurs.

I managed to get acces to a windows machine.  And the toolbar works just just fine for increasing (but not decreasing) font size when using Chrome and when using Edge.  This seems to confirm my suspicion that this is a Mac related issue.

It could be something specific to mac OS, but it's not universal. I've tested this with two different Apple laptops and couldn't replicate on either. Also, if you're unable to decrease your font in Chrome in Windows, then it seems less likely to be OS-specific.
