Something wrong with Weebly's site editor or themes?

I see that Weebly have made changes to the way the themes are lay out when choosing or changing a theme. After starting a new weebly theme i cant seem to change the font size, make it bold and other things to my texts as i normally can do. Sometimes when the font size does seem to change only certain letters of the word would be bigger and the rest is not. Kinda like this "THemes" anyone with the same problems?

I'm having the same problem, but haven't changed the theme, I'm just trying to build a couple of new pages for my site but the text formatting is VERY erratic. Hopefully it will be sorted soon, I've given up until it is

Sorry to hear that, @fendragons. Are you using the text formatting toolbar or font options on the Theme tab?

The problem with the text editing toolbar has been reported by a number of people - including me (including on the Weebly facebook Page)

Have the reports on problems and glitches not been picked up.?

For the record the problems are:

  • bold does not work
  • italics do not work
  • the font resizing +/- does not work
  • text justification does not work

In addition, it's impossible to insert the URL for a YouTube video as when you click the module in the right place (and I've done this lots of times before!) it starts the instruction video

The only solution I've found so far is to move from Chrome to Firefox which is a marginal improvement.

I checked with our engineers and they're now investigating reports of problems using the text editing toolbar. It seems to be specific to certain versions of Chrome - probably why it's been a little tougher to reproduce. Sorry for the trouble, @makingamark!

Thanks

I've noticed recently that Weebly seems to have a number of problems with Chrome updates - the main one being tardiness in recognising and addressing the problems!

Can I suggest that Weebly stays on the ball for all Chrome updates - and does basic checks after every update - as soon as a new version is released. While I don't mind if there's maybe 2-3 days while Weebly gets to grips with a new update, it's pretty annoying to find that very basic glitches associated with the update have not been addressed some time later.

My basic expectation is that everything on the text bar and all basic functions in the editing menu should be fully functional PDQ after any update.

Otherwise I can see that I'm going to have to permanently decamp to Firefox for all Weebly editing. (Which I happen to have already installed - but not everybody does!)

Hi, I highlight the text which brings up a line of formatting options inc bold, italic resize etc but none of them work. Also the element blocks down the left hand side that are used for building pages don't always work. I use Chrome Version 58.0.3029.81 by default if it helps. I've now loaded Firefox and everything I've tried seems to work so far with it.

Our engineers are working on resolving an issue which seems to affect that version of Chrome. They should hopefully have that fixed shortly, though using FireFox is a good temporary solution. Thanks for your patience, @fendragons!

That's strange, @Cheez. Do you see this on every site in your account, or just one in specific?

Hi Adam, this problem is on all of my websites. Another thing that i noticed is when i change my pages that are in non-header format to header format the background in the header is the background for the "babershop" theme even though i dont have that theme for my page. I hope you can find this problem and solve it soon. Thanks.

It looks like all of your sites are using a custom theme. Could you try switching one of your sites to a standard theme to see if that helps?

I have tried the standard theme with the same problems. what i noticed is that when i make a new site with a weebly theme. the settings under Theme > Change Fonts > Paragraph Titles and Paragraph Text are all preset to a certain text size and its not set to "auto". If i hit the reset link it will reset the settings to a different font and everything back to "auto" but then i lose the font that is associated with the theme.

Hey there Cheez! Do you have a new site in your account displaying that behavior now? It's definitely something we'd want to check out.

Thanks!

We were able to look through the site here, and so far things are working as intended. One thing to bear in mind, the Reset button for fonts will reset the setting in your Theme menu, but won't affect any of the other formatting changes made on the individual pages.

Can you temporarily try another browser, @Cheez? I'd like to see if this is browser specific or independent.
