Hey @Slipit1! You don't actually want to use this method to verify your site. Choose the META tag method instead, copy that code, and paste it into the Header Code field in Settings > SEO > Header Code, then publish your site.

Hi Adam,
How long would it take for Google to actually be able to verify the website? I tried this method of inputting the code in the header Code and when i went back to the Google verifying page it said it wasnt able to verify it.
Thank you

It should be pretty much instant - did you re-publish the site after adding your meta code tag?

At this point it would be time consuming to recreate all the paths I took to repair this that afternoon but basically, the link you have above takes one to this:
But inserting this yeilds an error code.
I found the correct insertion elsewhere, as such:

The reason your google verification text made an error was because you used the wrong method. When verifying, click "alternate methods" and select meta tag. That's why the meta name worked for you and the other one made an error: you were using a file as meta data. Once you select meta tag method you can complete the verification process. Hope I helped everyone out

Hi Paul,
I'm having the same issue trying to verify my site (www.aldermanfarms.net) for the Adobe Affiliate program.
I've inserted "<!-- TradeDoubler site verification XXXXXXX -->" (x's represent my number) into the Header section of my site, Published the site, but still verififcation fails.
Any help would be wonderful.
Thanks,
Tommy A.

Make sure you copy this meta data code in the Settings/Seo section. Do not put this Meta Data on pages, just under the Settings section. Also make sure that you add the entire url path in the google deal. Here is a good example:

As of 2018, Google no longer takes meta tags. Therefore what should we use to get indexed by google now for our weebly page?

Google still reads meta tags for SEO purposes; they should also still use the meta tag verification method if you're verifying your site. Where did you read that they weren't doing these?

Rather than using the file method, use the META tag method to verify your site with Google. You can copy the whole tag and add it to Settings > SEO > Header Code, then re-publish.
