With the strong possibility that USPS will be moving to zone rates, is there software in the works to accomadate for this?

Hi @Rhinestones What do you mean by moving into zone rates? I was under the impression USPS already utilized zones?

Hi Bernadette,

For First Class Mail, which is the majority of what I ship, the postal changes are switching to zone pricing with an 11.9% increase. So the further you are from your zone, the higher the First Class shipping cost will be.

Here is a link:

The performance plan uses integrated pricing from Shippo. Since the prices are pulled in real time you won't need to worry about the upcoming changes if you are on this plan. The business plan has never had an algorithm to use for priority mail packages (which are zone rates when over x amount) and all shipping rules are setup manually. I assume this would be the new normal for first class mail as well, though, the pricing for for first class will (hopefully) not be as large of a difference. Zone rates are super tricky and complicated to setup manually, so I would definitely suggest looking into the performance option if you are not already using it.

I am intergrated with Shippo but I use the business plan. So I guess I will check with Shippo to see what my options are.

Do you mean for the labels? Yes, business and performance plans can purchase labels. The real time rates will only display for performance plans. But, yes, ultimately it would be Shippo that updates that info. Smiley Happy
