For a different option, you could create a splash page (choose the page under the Pages tab, then select Splash for header type), then drag in the search box element. That way you have the search box over a large image.
Hope that helps!

Only some themes have a built in search box option for the header. Without any code changes, you can go into Theme, Change Theme and look for one that has one built in. Bradley, Aroma, Superset, Slick are a few themes that do have it.

You can add it to the header area, but most people are referring to the navigation area at the very top of the page. Some of our older themes would allow you to toggle the option on/off if you were on a paid plan. Here's a few themes (with links) that still have the option:

Thanks a lot for the links, Bernadette. My goal is to get the search box in the navigation area, and I think Dusk 2 may do exactly what I need.
Just to be exhaustively clear, though, a search box can't be added to the navigation area of Muse Technologies - Unite 2, correct? I have a paid plan.

No, I have not come across any variations of Unite 2 that has the option. I'm sure it can be done with some html/css edits if that is something you are comfortable with. It's not my area of expertise but there are definitely users on here that are able to help out when available. Here's some more options I found:

Hi Bernadette, Could you please update this list with 'current' themes that have a search tool in the navigation menu? Thank you so much!

We haven't made any changes to theme features in quite a while, so any themes that included it when the earlier post was written will still be those that have it.

If you want a splash page, go to your Pages tab, select a page from your list on the left, then select splash under the Header dropdown.

Thank you for replying. I do know that I could put it in the header but I am talking about the standard header that is on every page of the website includign product pages. I have been on the phone with support many times and this is not possible according to them. If you know of a way to do this please let me know.

I am trying to add a search field to the header of the template, Muse Technologies - Unite 2. Is that not possible?

Hello mike4!
The ways in which headers are handled has changed a bit since this post was made. However, you can currently set a background on the page itself with most modern themes, which will achieve the same effect.

Is that your site, @azade? It looks like that domain name is not registered.

I can't believe Weebly does not support this yet. Have anyone found a solution for this? I can't think of any website that does not have a search function in the navigation.
