How to keep formatting when pasting text

Hi all,

Is there a way to keep text formmatting when pasting it into the text element? It used to, but now it removes everything. I'm trying to paste from Word documents and I'd like to keep at least the italics.

Thanks,

José

External formatting absolutely should be removed by Weebly. Site styling should be solely dictated by the site's theme. While it may make some sense to allow simple externally-created formatting (like bold or italics), this would require the text element to essentially add the necessary html tags and/or css styling to have the text rendered as required.

A better approach is to originally write and style your content directly in a Weebly text element. If you're updating page content and need to add content over an extended period of time, you can either choose to not publish your text changes (any changes you make to the page content will be automatically saved but not automatically published). Or you can add a hidden content page where you can write and style your desired new content in a text element. After the content is complete, copy or move the text element to the desired page and insert it into the appropriate position on the page. If you're writing a blog post, you can choose to save the post as a draft until you're ready to publish it.

Ok, I see. I typically start on Word docs though because I write essays and then bring some of the content to share it on the site, but I can work with this (editing the text after I paste).

Bu the way, it's been a while since Weebly has been publishing changes immediately after one edits, without needing to publish the changes. At least that's been my experience. Also, recently Weebly removes the formatting even when you copy and paste within the same text element, definitely between elements and pages, which means one has to add links and format again. The only way to keep formatting is by selecting the text and dragging it to another location within the same element, or by copying the whole element over to another page and keeping only the desired text.
