How to edit blog page layout?
Hey guys,
I am having some difficulty in editing a blog page layout. I can't even select the "section" to change the background color.
I would like my blog to look like https://whiskeyball.com/blogs/learn-more-about-using-ice-ball-sphere-trays or like this https://mockupsforfree.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/Blog-1.png.
How can I do that? Thanks!

Hey @whitemonkey, thanks for the reply.
Unfortunate surprise, to be honest. Slowly my opinion is changing about Weebly.

@TPSpy you can try different themes
Set up a new and free dot weebly dot com account and experiment. See if u can find some thing you like
Margins and borders, title tags, can be changed in the html.

I tried that and all blogs layouts are really basic.
The other problem with that is it changes the entire website, not just the blog layout. I have a lot of edits at the code because of other small Weebly limitations and I would lose all that.
So I will keep searching a way to "tweak" the blog code of the theme I am stuck too and have the basic blog of other themes on it.
I appreciate you trying to help @whitemonkey.

Hi @TPSpy what theme do u have?
And ill try to find the blog back ground code? If its there..
I personally use standard pages and manually add a post feed and i can get the look i want BUT if u wanna change anything, its a lot of work. Changing every single page. ;((

I am using the Brooke Anderson - Slick theme.
By all limitations, I would settle for a sidebar at the right and the posts previews.
The Brooke Anderson blog layout only shows the title of the post, not even a preview image... Who would want that, right?

Whats ur site?
@TPSpy i forget.
Do u have a side bar at all? If not u can get on the BLOG SETTINGS... go to SETTINGS then in seetings menu, on left side, at the bottom. Can enable side bar...
If u have 1 blog page but then add posts. And use the read more break, u create a preview on the BLOG page. AND an image if u add the read more break under the image

My theme overrides the "Blog sidebar", it is enabled.
The theme I use comes with the read more link at the blog front page, should I add another one?

If u do a new blog post create a new post, add the title, then an image and add a read more break under it... @TPSpy and the rest of the text under that
U only need blogs if u r producing new posts other wise use a standard page

I just tried that and at the blog front page only shows the title. I think the theme overrides it.
Yes, I will start a blog, aside from all other content. I will do 2-3 posts every week.

But u gotta add the read more break and then when visitors take a look they will see a tilte and image and then click READ MORE to be taken to the full post. Each time u add a new post, go to the blog page and click NEW POST

@TPSpy like this :
https://www.nomadicbackpacker.com/hostel-review
Then whe i click the first READ MY REVIEW i am take to the post itself
https://www.nomadicbackpacker.com/hostel-review/sombra-hostel-tirana-albania
Hostel Review is what i called the BLOG in this particular instance. So i add all posts about hostel reviews to this page... adding the READ MORE break
I have another "BLOG" section, i call visas. So all visa posts are filed under VISAs
I blocked my side bar and tweaked it a lot so its not a standard theme any more
Standard pages have .html on the end. Blog pages dont

I had a quick look which pages are BLOG pages and which are standard pages? I clicked a few all look to be standard pages hence why no side bar ??????
When u add a new page. Select BLOG call it GAMES REVIEW 2020 or similar. Then add a post. Call it. "game name" add a title, intro text, image, read more break then add main text under neath it
Add another Blog page Call it GAMES REGOEW 2019 and repeat..

The list just grows! Hahaha... Sorry...
My pagination is also not working.
Is it possible to add breadcrumbs?
The navigation is so hard... If the user clicks at the post how can he easily go back to the blog frontpage?
thanks!

The back ground on standard pages is editable in the HTML

@whitemonkey, no, I didn't buy a theme.
The code for the pagination is at the theme: << previous next >>
Don't know why it doesn't appear.
Yesterday I tried the editortricks tutorials and I think most of them are obsolete.
The only one that worked with my theme was the column for posts, so I managed to get 2 posts in the same row.
I manage well the standard pages as you can add sections, my biggest problem is the blog page.
I have been trying for +3 days to work around it, got to a point where I think I will stick with what it has and when my subscription to Weebly ends I will move my website + blog to WordPress.
Thanks again for your time and dedication @whitemonkey, you are awesome!
