How do I change column widths and spacing on a blog page?

I made my blog page my homepage to have one consistent news/post feed.  I would like to make some elements/columns wider and would like the website to take up more space in the browser window.   How do I do that?

Some of the themes have a full width toggle under Theme>Theme Options, although, there's still going to be some padding around the elements.

Hi,

  Unfortunately my Theme only has on/off options for search box, social icons, and phone number.   If you have any other suggestions, please let me know.  Do you know which Themes have the option you mention?  I would consider changing Themes.

I can try to find some of the "wide" options, but can you clarify what your definition is? If you have an example site to provide I think that would make it easier for us to let you know what your options are. Thanks!
