Headings

How can I get back to the original heading editor where I could add a background colour and choose my font from a big list?  I can get rid of that wretched plant growing between someone's fingers.  Why do Weebly staff have to keep messing about with what was a good programme?

AGREE 100%!!!!  With the new changes, I have a choice of four fonts to use in my headers...not a single one of which matches the rest of my site!  So if I choose to add a new page (which I was just working on), it won't blend with the rest of the site.

And DON'T suggest I go into the CSS and edit!  If I were a site builder, I would have done it myself from the very beginning; trust me!  It is very irresponsible of you to suggest that people with no coding background do this.  If they make a mistake, then you can't even help because you have no idea what they did.

As much as I didn't want to completely abandon this platform, you folks make it more and more difficult to stay.  I am beginning to understand your BBB rating.

I may abandon Weebly. Having cut my teeth of them now I have started to rebuild our site using M.S. Publisher 2007. It's taking a lot of time because I am having to learn on the way but in the end it could be worth it; fortunately I am a very proficient user of MS Publisher. Have a look at www.healthscams.org.uk

There are already two threads about this issue. I wonder why they do not appear in "recent topics", because this causes customers to open now already the third new thread ...

The "Recent Topics" section is just a chronological list of updated topics - if they aren't listed in there it just means that other topics have gotten replies more recently than those have.

Never mind about this explanation let's have a solution.

Tibblington, the new image editor is a solution, specifically to the issue of Flash being phased out of browsers.

However, we are paying attention to the feedback about wanting the same features in the new image editor as the old one.

For now, it's best to use the site editor, the image elements, the header, etc., as the destination for the final product,
as opposed to the means by which to create your site's images.

@Brodie  I'm never going to get a new header to look like the ones I already have in place.  You folks have taken something incredibly simple and made it needlessly difficult.  I understand the whole 'flash' issue, but why on earth would you change the basic features?  *SMH*

Heirloom_Angel, I understand both the frustration of having that function removed and the convenience of having everything in one place. But we had to act with the transition on the world wide web away from Flash. As with when we introduced responsive themes, Weebly has to keep up with the way the web is evolving, and sometimes that means changing away from what we're used to in the site editor. However, that isn't to rule out further revisions to the image editor to have it both function in a post-Flash internet, and have the same functionality that you enjoyed before. We just have to examine what will make the most sense for our platform and the majority of our users.

@Brodie

This entire 'upgrade' has been one charlie-foxtrot  after the next!  I had been putting up with e-commerce issues for MONTHS before that upgraded and it went from bad to worse!

Now this.  I was really trying to hang on and keep my site here because I have busted me arse for well over two years on it to get it to where I wanted it.  Now I can't even make it look unified without jumping through numerous asinine hoops. Much to my chagrin, I will be looking for a new platform.  #NotHappy

@Adam  Sorry, but it doesn't work that way.  It SHOULD, but it doesn't.  That is evident by the numerous comments on threads about this issue alone.

The list is purely chronological and includes moderator replies; even if this post got 10x as many posts as 10 other threads, if those threads got a reply more recently than the last reply on this thread they will show and this won't.

Hopefully that sentence makes sense. Robot Embarassed

Oh, it's possible that there might be some kind of rate-limiter with it, though - meaning that if a post was getting a lot of replies it might not show it again so as to give other posts more exposure.

There isn't much visibility into our end in terms of how it works - it's basically a "show it" or "hide it" type of thing.

Getting back on track with this topic...  I am also (obviously) not able to change/update any of my current headings.  For instance, if I want to change the type in the header of a page, it will no longer look like the rest of the site.  I don't understand why the same functionality of this tool changed so drastically.

Nor do I understand why every time we turn around there is something new to deal with.  I truly believe that whoever is calling the shots at Weebly truly does not understand the consequences of these updates/changes.  I don't believe anyone thought about we 'peons' and what affect it would have on our sites, our editing ability, or our businesses

I have come up with a provisional solution to this heading problem, see my detailed post.

Here are a couple of examples to demonstrate my frustration. Just get a grip Weebly!

A POSSIBLE SOLUTION

I have found a possible provisional solution to this heading problem by using the Weebly heading Landing Page.  I employed Microsoft Publisher to create the heading, turned it into an image or photograph as a JPEG file and then placed it neatly in the place for the image by importing it as an image file. I had to experiment to find the ideal size to create the Publisher file and made a blank 9cm x 4.86cm which I have filedfor future use.

Details are below in the illustration but I would gladly give more help by email: tibbly.cat@gmail.com

I am a retired engineer but never stop learning, I like a challenge.  I shall be 82 in March.

While this is a great solution for some, the fact that you even had to DO this is ridiculous in my opinion.  Kudos to you for making it work for you!

I agree entirely; frustration got me working on it.
