Deletion of Site Assistance

Hello @Adam

I wrote to support this morning (on this page -  https://hc.weebly.com/) to delete my site, but have received no reply or confirmation that my message was received. Please can you assist me? It's quite important that I get this done sooner than later. I cannot do this by myself since Weebly throws up this message when I try:

"To delete a site with a plan, please contact our customer success team.

Go to help center."

I have a Connect Plan that redirects reclaimdesign.weebly.com to reclaimdesign.org. I would like this redirect removed, and also the reclaimdesign.weebly.com/sitemap.html (and all other site files) please.

Can you please confirm that deleting the site should resolve both of these issues? Many thanks for your assistance.

Michael.

Hi there. I've removed the service for you so that you can unpublish the site. I've also unlinked the custom domain name so that it is not associated with the site any more.

You also had $32 in credit leftover so I added that to your account. You can use this at a later date for a different site if you like. Thanks!

Hello @Adam and @Bernadette

I hope you are well given the current scenario.

I am still having trouble regarding the reclaimdesign.weebly.com address. I've been working on SEO at home for our site https://reclaimdesign.org

The issues I am facing are that GSC is telling me there is a site move of reclaimdesign.weebly.com to www.reclaimdesign.org in progress - I have no idea why this is, and the message has been in GSC for months now. The "Learn More" links don't tell me anything useful.

I had a look in Moz to see what was happening and it says that reclaimdesign.weebly.com is redirecting to www.reclaimdesign.org:

As someone else has taken over reclaimdesign.weebly.com (their site is about mountain tours or some such), it makes no sense at all for this to be the case and indicates something has gone awry in the system. Previously when reclaimdesign.weebly.com was our site, it was redirecting to www.reclaimdesign.org with the Connect Plan I bought. However, it should be stopped now as it's going to play havoc for me and the people who now have reclaimdesign.weebly.com. Please can you help me sort this out? Many thanks for your assistance.

Keep well.

Michael.

That's pretty weird that it still says that, since your old subdomain is not forwarding to your custom domain. I wonder if this is something Google needs to look at; maybe they cache that sort of thing for search console and there's a way to clear it. Is the site property you're using the same one that was originally used with the subdomain, or a new one you created for the domain?

Hi Adam I'm still using the same domain as the one I had when I was using weebly:

https://reclaimdesign.org

However, maybe it was set up as https://www.reclaimdesign.org within weebly. Is it possible to double check please?

Thanks for your help.

Michael.

We always forward to the "www" subdomain with custom domain names, so any top level domain added will always load from www.domain.name. I really think you'll probably need to ask Google for clarification on this. The old subdomain is definitely not forwarding to the custom domain, so it makes no sense for them to show you that message.
