Creating Hyperlinks - does this work in the free version?

I'm experimenting before I buy. I tried to insert a hyperlink and it isn't working. I know I am doing it correctly.

Is this because the feature is disabled in the free version?

Creating hyperlinks is not disabled in the free version. The screenshot you posted looks like you inserted a link instead of creating existing text into a link. If you are using existing text that you want to turn into a link, you need to highlight the text and then click the link icon and then add your url. See short video:

Hyperlink colors can be modified via the theme panel. Click on "Theme" in the Site Editor top navigation bar. In the resultant sidebar, you should see something like a "Change Fonts" button (some themes present their attributes panels a bit differently but you're looking for the fonts attribute of your theme). Click the Change Fonts button. In the available fonts list, you should see one labeled "Links" so click that and you'll see color options for the base color and the hover state color which you can change as desired.

@Dianamoon

Can you provide the url of a specific page where you have an existing hyperlink that is not working?

I would rather not.

It's an Amazon author page. It's completely functional.

It's should not make a difference.

Insertion of hyperlinks in a Text Element (by using the text edit link tool against a segment of text in the Element) or by directly adding an anchor tag in a Code Element will work regardless of your Weebly hosting plan level. If you're using some other method to insert a link, indicate what that method is.

I'm not using any other method.

I click in the text box, the bar comes on, and I click on the hyperlink icon, etc. I have posted a photo. Is there anything I'm leaving out?

@Dianamoon

Just to confirm - you are inserting links into a weebly page that links to an Amazon Author Page?

Yes, and two individual books.

I'll insert a screenshot with another link so you can see what I mean. This time I used a different hyperlink just to make sure it wasn't just messing up with Amazon, but no. I tried "www.livescience.com" and it still screwed up. It inserts the actual letters into the text box.

I can't be any more explicit than that.

Update: screenshot removed. Solution provided. Thanks to all.

You have to highlight the text first that you wish to perform when clicked on - please watch this video especially the part that shows you how to link title text to an exterior webpage..

OMG it worked.

Thank you so much!

I thought you just had to click anywhere in the text. Not very smart of me.

PS I just did it and it works but the text changes to a color I don't like - is there any way to change the hyperlink color? UPDATE: you can. Go to Themes/Change Fonts/Links/Color
