CNN for RSS Feed
Greetings,
I am trying to get an RSS feed on my Weebly site to give to iTunes for a podcast RSS feed. When I drag the RSS Feed onto my site in editor, links to CNN articles pop up in its place. Can someone tell me how to get an RSS Feed I can use for submitting the video and audio material on my site to iTunes for a podcast? Thanks and have a blessed day!

Hey there @tranyceparmer!
Using your site for an iTunes podcast is a multi-step process; we don't have a built-in tool for this so it's a little tougher to go about it.
If you follow these steps it should work for you, though:
**UPLOAD THE AUDIO FILE** You'll need to use a File element (not the audio element) to upload your mp3 file. **CREATE THE XML** You can use the free tool at http://webnet77.com/podcast-rss/index.pl/PODS to
create an XML file with the basic information about your podcast. This produces XML markup with one tag. Paste this content into an XML file on your computer using a text editor like notepad
or textedit and save it as podcast.xml. Note: You will need the URL of your mp3. You can get this by opening the page with the
audio file in your *live site*, and right or control-clicking to copy the link. You may need to add the file size of your mp3 in bytes if the "auto" setting in the XML
generator doesn't work with your file. **UPLOAD THE XML** Add a File element to a page in your Weebly site and upload the XML file you made in
the last step. Publish your site, then right- or Control-click the link and copy the URL of the file.
This is the "Podcast URL" that you'll provide to iTunes. **UPDATE THE XML** For each episode you produce, you'll have to upload the audio file, and re-upload the
XML. iTunes should update automatically.

Could you do this for me or at least tell me what the website is asking for when it request different URLs and etc. I don't have a feed. I don't understand which URL or link the website is asking me for towards the end that creates the XML file. I'm really having a hard time doing this but want it done. Thanks and have a blessed day.

It's a bit complicated to set this up, so this is definitely something to consider if you want to use Weebly to host your mp3s for your podcast.
The URL of your feed is going to be the URL of the podcast.xml you generate at that site once you upload it to Weebly.
In your case, if you generate your XML file and name it "podcast.xml", then upload it with a file element, and then copy the URL it should be this:
http://truurbanthreads.weebly.com/uploads/3/0/5/1/30511808/5381521.jpg
If it isn't, right-click on the file element on your live site and copy the URL, then edit your podcast.xml file and replace it with what you just copied, then upload the XML file again to the same element.

Thanks for all of your help, Adam! I really do appreciate it. However, I think I'm going to start a YouTube channel instead. I'll just post the links to it on my site. Have a blessed day!

Not a problem, @tranyceparmer! There's many ways to do things, and that's a great way to do what you need. You could also use our YouTube element to embed your videos right on your site.

Hi,
So I read this tutorial and I think I understand what I have to do, but I have a couple questions. Where on my site do I upload the XML file? The same page that the audio file is uploaded to? Or do I upload it to a hidden page and then put the URL to that page in the feed reader? Also, I have 3 episodes already recorded and uploaded using the Audio File function, which I understand I will have to reupload using the standard file function. But how do I create an XML that will grab all 3 episodes, if you are reuploading the XML every time you post a new episode, how does it create a continuous feed?
Thanks,
Wren

The easiest way to do it is to use a hidden page of your site, upload the file with the link option there, then copy the URL of your XML file by right-clicking the link on your live site. If you add a new episode, update your XML and update the link on the hidden page by uploading the updated file again. The URL of the XML file should stay the same so you won't need to update that.

This all seems really complicated. Are there plans to simplify this process?

We don't have anything built in regarding this at the moment, no. It's certainly something we'll take into consideration here, however. Sorry for the inconvenience.
